In the highly competitive world of comics, almost every creator is trying to stand out in some way. Therefore, the author is a bit surprised Rich Duke (“Sea of Sorrow,” “Road of Bones”) does this by leveraging his family’s restaurant background and combining it with the creator’s love of comics: all of which are featured in the upcoming web series middle comic kitchen.

New episodes will be posted on Douek’s TikTok and Instagram pages and will begin streaming this Wednesday, July 17th. every episode comic kitchen will feature Duke talking about comics while showcasing personal recipes inspired by the themes, characters or settings of those comics. A bit like Binging with Babish (minus Rich Douek), the show also covers all things food, whether it’s a main course or dessert.
Frankly speaking, combining cooking and food-focused variety shows with comics does make sense in this market. There is so much content in the world these days, algorithms and publishers are always looking for the next unique thing. In a world where social media is constantly changing and Google searches are constantly failing us, creating content is actually a good idea for any creative. In fact, just a few years ago, Michelin-starred chef Paul Eschbach Going in the opposite direction, he transitioned from a world-renowned chef to a part-time comic book creator and launched the Marvel Infinite series TEST kitchen.
