Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 1 recap: Everything to remember before Season 2

The show is slated to return in late 2026

Before the second season of Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man arrives on Disney+ in late 2026, we’re looking back at Season 1 of the show that takes the web-slinger back to his early days as a masked vigilante hero. What happened so far, and where did the finale leave things ahead of Season 2? You have questions, we have answers.

What is Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man?

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man follows Peter Parker (Hudson Thames) in his early days as Spider-Man. It’s important to note that this isn’t the Spider-Man of the MCU movies, but one from an alternate timeline, which is reflected in some of the character relationships central to the series – such as, for example, Norman Osborn (Colman Domingo) being Peter’s mentor instead of Tony Stark. This Peter is still a high school student, and attends Rockford T. Bales High School alongside Nico Minoru. (One for the Runaways fans in the audience, there.) This Spider-Man’s origin story also has an extra wrinkle, as you’ll see if you keep reading…

What happened in the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 1 finale?

In the Season 1 finale, “If This Be My Destiny…”, Norman Osborn activated the Project Monolith portal, and a symbiotic alien came through to Earth. Doctor Stephen Strange (Robin Atkin Downes) cast a spell which created a portal that brought him and the alien back in time to Peter’s first day at Midtown High, and one of the spiders from the future that had been injected with Peter’s blood escaped and bit the younger Peter. Yes, Peter Parker got his powers from a spider that had been injected with Peter Parker’s irradiated blood, meaning that this Spider-Man’s origin is a time paradox.

In the present day, Strange and Spider-Man collectively pushed the alien back to space. However, a piece of the symbiote remained behind and is found by Harry Osborn (Zeno Robinson). Harry founded his own company, Worldwide Engineering Brigade (W.E.B.), inviting Jeanne Foucault / Finesse (Anjali Kunapaneni) and Lonnie Lincoln / Tombstone (Eugene Byrd) to join. He also invited Amadeus Cho (Aleks Le), who declined and chose to take a job at Oscorp instead. Finally, Aunt May (Kari Wahlgren) visited Peter’s incarcerated father, Jackson Parker (Josh Keaton), in prison.

Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is slated to return to Disney+ in late 2026.
