YGG Play Shuts Down Services as Yield Guild Pivots to AI Data

Yield Guild Games co-founder Gabby Dizon said its web3 game publishing arm went dark on Friday.

“@YGG_Play services will shut down as of today,” Dizon wrote on his verified X account on Friday, adding that “our @YieldGuild story continues – more on this starting next week!”

The unit posted its own sign-off 43 minutes earlier. “Today marks the final day for YGG Play,” the YGG Play account wrote, thanking users who played its games, completed quests or staked YGG. Asked in the replies how far the closure reaches, the account said it covers “just @YGG_Play! Yield guild main will always stay.”

Dizon announced on July 6 that YGG was sunsetting the publishing unit, affecting 35 jobs, and that the games LOL Land and Waifu Sweeper along with the YGG Play platform “will be available until July 31st, then will go offline.” Departing staff would receive eight additional weeks of pay, he said.

    A Bet on Gaming Datasets

Alongside the wind-down, YGG disclosed a treasury of $20.6 million as of the end of the first quarter, including $6.2 million in stablecoins, Treasury bills and large-cap tokens, and said shutting the unprofitable unit extended its operating runway to four years.

The guild says its reto-business pipeline built around gaming datasets — a return, in Dizon’s telling, to working with its player community, this time generating behavioral data for AI labs rather than farming yield from game assets

YGG changed hands near $0.0178 on Friday, up 1.77% over 24 hours and down 1.68% on the week, leaving the token at a $14.17 million circulating market capitalization and $17.79 million fully diluted valuation, roughly 99.8% below its November 2021 peak.

    What Survives

YGG’s sunset announcement said the YGGPlay.fun site, the Launchpad, the unit’s social accounts and Community Questing at community.yggplay.fun are all retired, as are LOL Land and Waifu Sweeper, and marketing support for third-party games ceases.

The web3 versions of GIGACHADBAT and Ragnarok Breaker “will continue as normal,” with live services maintained by Delabs Games and Planetarium Labs respectively, and the transition completes by August 1.

The guild attributes the closure to market conditions instead of product performance. YGG Play crossed $9 million in lifetime revenue by the end of the first quarter of 2026, the company said, but it pointed to the October 10, 2025 liquidation cascade and the drought that followed, concluding it does not expect the crypto consumer market or the web3 games publishing market “to recover sufficiently in the near term.”

Its official account called the decision “a market decision, not a product decision,” saying “the realities of the broader macroeconomic climate mean that this unit is no longer commercially sustainable.”
