Spatial Ops expands its mixed reality FPS map-making tools with today’s free update to Quest, also adding custom rulesets and a new co-op survival mode.
With the Blueprint Combat Update, developer Resolution Games introduced the ability to edit Spatial Ops maps in real-time before starting a multiplayer match. This allows everyone to see the changes immediately. This also adds “undo” and “redo” tools, dangerous damage zones that slowly drain health, floating barriers, and the option to place text in levels to better guide players.
Among other changes, Spatial Ops now has an online map library, the ability to save hosts’ maps, and new map templates. Custom rulesets can now be saved to individual maps, allowing you to adjust elements such as bot difficulty, friendly fire toggle, weapon tuning, and armor visibility settings.
A cooperative survival mode has also been added for challenges together with other players. Supporting this is a new “enemy spawner” object that determines where enemies will spawn, alongside flashbang weapons. Finally, there’s also a new paid DLC called “Corrupted Technology Theme” that provides unique props to your toolkit.
This is the latest post-launch update for Spatial Ops since it went into full release last year, and in August of this year, Resolution Games released the “Pulse Protocol” update. This introduced new features such as bHaptics support for TactSuit, TactSleeve, and TactVisor, in-game achievement tracking, campaign rebalancing, oversized map templates, and a quest-only Arena mode.
Spatial Ops is currently available on the Meta Quest platform. Although today’s update was not received, the “Campaign Edition” is also available on Pico.
