Barbie has conquered movies. Now she’s coming back to comics
Dark Horse has announced a new Barbie comic book run is coming.

There really isn’t any medium that Barbie hasn’t found herself in over the years. Following on from starring in one of the biggest movies in recent years, the doll-turned-feminist-icon is dipping her plastic toes back into the world of comic books. Dark Horse has confirmed that they’re bringing back the funny side of Barbie comics.
“Dark Horse is thrilled to announce our new partnership with Mattel to bring the world of Barbie to life through a new comic book series,” Dark Horse posted on social media. “More details to come at a later date.”
The post was accompanied by artwork by Natalie Nardozza, a comic book and cover artist who has worked with DC and Dark Horse before. It isn’t clear if Nardozza will be the artist on the upcoming Barbie comic book or if she was commissioned to produce the artwork for the announcement – but we do know she is a big Barbie fan.
One fan asked about the tone of the new comic would be “funny and subversive” like the 2023 hit film starring Margot Robbie or if it would be more of a glorified commercial like much of the cartoons and video games in the Barbiefranchise have been. “You will laugh, don’t worry,” Dark Horse replied.
This isn’t the first time Barbiehas appeared in comic book form. She had multiple series published by Marvel in the 1990s, including one that ran for 63 issues from 1991 to 1996, and one more recently at Papercutz.No release date or other details about the new Barbie comic book from Dark Horse have been confirmed.
