PENDLETON — There’s still plenty of time to get a costume ready for the sixth annual Library Comic Con.
The event runs from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Pendleton Public Library, 502 SW Dorion Ave. Also, new this year is a “pre-con” costume-building activity. Those interested in crafting costume pieces with cardboard, paint and recycled materials can drop into the Community Room from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to build costume pieces for the event’s annual costume contest at 4 p.m., which is open to all ages.
The costume contest includes three divisions: youths under 12, teens and adults. Register in advancebefore the contest starts. In addition to bragging rights, the winners will receive prizes
Comic Con features games, books, giveaways, vendors, triSuper Smash Bros. video game tournament, general and Jurassic World triaking and an interactive photo booth
Also, according to a library press release, New York Times bestselling fantasy author Patricia Briggs is a featured guest during the event. Best known for her urban fantasy novels about Mercy Thompson, she will meet with readers and sign books throughout the day. In addition, her books will be available for purchase.
