Ever wonder if the Weapon X Affiliation could grow? Well, here are a few sneaky options Atomic Mass Games could add to the list!
SoX-Men ’97 season 2is in full swing, and I’ve been watching it in spurts. I’ve been really enjoying this season, and I can’t wait to see more. That said, I got an idea from one of the recent episodes. I don’t want to spoil anything about that particular episode, but if you can’t tell by the title, it’s got some pretty big implications about the Weapon X Program.
Now, again, I’m not going to get into the show itself. But there was a list of names that pops up at one point in the show. Naturally, I paused it and took some notes. If you’re an old school fan of the comics, these names might ring a bell or two. And if not, well, get ready to meet some other members of the Weapon X Program*.
*Note: if you’re really interested in the history of the Weapon X Program, you might want to check out the umbrella program, better known as Weapons Plus, to get a sense of the scope of this one.
Lady Deathstrike
This razor-clawed villain is technically adjacent to Weapon X, but she’s a character I still can’t believe isn’t in the game yet.Lady Deathstrike, aka Yuriko Oyama is actually the daughter of the scientist who created the Adamantium-bonding process that created Weapon X (aka Wolverine). I think she could join due to her association with the crew, but I’d also be okay if she showed up in another faction as well…
If you only know ol’ Francis from the first Deadpool movie, I won’t begrudge you. His comic book version isn’t completely unlike his movie version. Only, his powers are more cybernetic in nature. He came from the Weapon X program and was actually killed at one point by Deadpool. But he came back. “Because Comics!” and so I could see him as an option to expand the Weapon X roster.
Psi-Borg
Have you ever wondered how Weapon X managed to mind-wipe folks and keep them in line (mostly)? Well, Aldo Ferro, aka Psi-Borg, had a lot to do with that process. He basically sold his powers to the Weapon X program in exchange for anti-aging treatment, and he also had a cybernetic suit. Hence the name. Psi-Borg was kind of like a Cybernetic Professor X with those mental tricks he was pulling to create false memories!
Garrison Kane is 100% a Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld character. Cyber-arms, pockets, and some anatomically questionable proportions are dead giveaways. But really, he’s here because of his ties to Weapon X. In fact, in some instances he’s actually called Weapon X, which I guess is a tad confusing. Anyhow, he’s a Cyborg and has loads of guns built into his arms. He’s thrown down against Deadpool and Cable but then was kind of recruited by Cable. (Look, X-Force was a weird comic sometimes).
The point is he’d be a nice addition to the Weapon X roster. And if you’ve seen the X-Men episode, try not to spoil anything, okay?!
There are a few more on the list of Weapon X’s members. Kestrel, Fantomex, Silver Fox, and more…who else would you like to see added?
