Daredevil’s Wilson Bethel originally thought playing Bullseye was “a stretch.” Then they handed him a vacuum

During a recent fan Q&A, Daredevil star Bethel revealed the moment when he first connected to Bullseye, now one of the most beloved villains in the MCU

When the convention ends, the adventure continues at Broward Center and The Parker, sponsor of this article.

Of the many, many things fans love about Daredevil: Born Again, something that always comes up during praise for the series is its pitch-perfect casting. From Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk to Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson, fans have been sold on these performances since moment one… but that doesn’t mean that the actors themselves were always as confident. Take, for instance, Bullseye actor Wilson Bethel, who recently revealed that he had serious doubts about himself in the role.

Until, that is, one common household appliance changed his mind.

Bethel was speaking to Popverse’s Ashley V. Robinson at Florida SuperCon 2026, in a fan Q&A panel also attended by costars Deborah Ann Woll and Charlie Cox. During the discussion, one fan asked the assembled cast about challenges regarding getting into their <a href="https://comicvibe.com/july-22s-new-marvel-comics-the-full-list/” title=”July 22's New Marvel Comics: The Full List”>Marvel Comics characters, and Bethel spoke up.

“I was very intimidated by the Dex character when I first started on season 3 of the Netflix show,” the actor said, “Partly because that felt like such a stretch for me. Then they wrote the scene where Dex’s entire world has exploded. He’s just gone on his first rampage, and he comes home, and he starts vacuuming his apartment. I was like, ‘Oh, I know that guy. That’s fucking me.’ The volcano of all volcanoes could be erupting next to my house, and I’d be like, ‘This is a great time to vacuum.'”

In case you needed it, reader, that reference is to Netflix’s Daredevil season 3, episode 8, in which the no-quite-Bullseye-yet character does indeed do some house chores while fully suited up as an imposter Daredevil.

“We’re always looking for access points to these characters,” Bethel continued, “And the parts of them that we can relate to. There are those moments like that one, but there are other ones that have allowed me to find the character in really fun, exciting ways. Where it both feels real to me and also feels real to you guys as a result.”

There you go, aspiring actors – sometimes the key to embodying your character is chores. Somebody call Stanislavski.
