If you can’t be arsed to follow instructions, guides, or your own inner curiosity and drive, but still want to make a game on the Roblox platform, then you’re in luck because Roblox Corp has unveiled a new mobile tool that will let users tap in a text prompt and let procgen AI do the rest.
The mobile app is called Build, which lets users put in a text prompt to let AI that’s built from “a broad set of AI models, including both open-s assets, including 3-D models and objects. Users can then further playtest the prompt’s coughed-up title, refine the results, and then publish it on the UGC platform, all from the app itself
“Somewhere right now, someone has an idea for a game. They know exactly what it would feel like to play. They just don’t know how to build it. Today, that changes,” heralds Roblox Corp in the reveal.
The release of Build further promises new AI-powered features for Roblox Studio as well as the Build app, including a playtesting agent that digs up bugs, an analytics tool that provides data when following a prompt, and an “experiment agent” that Roblox Corp claims can “[identify] tests to run to drive higher engagement, retention, and monetization.”
Build is set to go through a slow rollout release, with some of its features being offered to New Zealand users first starting Tuesday, July 28th, to users nine and older who have passed age verification. The company also promises that games created in Build will go through “robust safety checks” before being playable on the platform for users 16 and up, though considering the mounting accusations of those processes, one can be excused for presuming those AI-fueled sniff tests aren’t exactly robust.
