Rosalía, Addison Rae, Lisa Rinna, and even Rama Duwaji, New York’s First Lady: what do they have in common? In addition to being style icons—each with a well-defined and instantly recognizable aesthetic—they have all worn a Miss Claire Sullivan design at least once. This is no coincidence, but rather a sign of an increasingly recognizable aesthetic language within the “new couture” scene. The New York-based atelier has, in fact, succeeded in crafting a distinct narrative where theatricality and femininity come together without ever feeling predictable.

Her creations strike a balance between excess and lightness thanks to voluminous yet never rigid shapes, silhouettes built through layers of tulle, flounced skirts, and bodices that caress the body with a soft sensuality. Added to all this is a very specific pop aesthetic that becomes an integral part of the design—references to New York culture, the Knicks, the iconic “I Love NY” graphic, and details that seem to come straight from a collage of cinema, music, and street culture. It is precisely this constant fusion of influences that makes every piece instantly recognizable.

Miss Claire Sullivan is, in fact, a New York-based atelier born from the designer’s desire to reinterpret the tradition of tailoring through a deeply contemporary sensibility. Each creation is conceived as an experience in its own right, as a narrative device built around the person wearing it. The starting point is always the body, but also the wearer’s personality, the moment, and the occasion: the goal, in fact, is to transform the act of dressing into something memorable.

After four years at Vaquera, the brand backed by Comme des Garçons, Claire Sullivan chose to strike out on her own, bringing her vision to life without compromise. Since then, she has been creating bespoke garments for key figures in the contemporary cultural scene, as well as for her own inner circle, always maintaining an intimate and highly narrative approach to couture.

Her creations, worn by musicians, artists, and members of her creative community, quickly caught the attention of some of the industry’s most influential editors, stylists, and celebrities, cementing her position as one of the most exciting voices among the new generation of American designers. In March 2022, she officially founded her bespoke haute couture house, Miss Claire Sullivan, defining an aesthetic that today bridges the romantic imagery of couture and the visual vitality of contemporary pop culture.
