During a conversation with Hauterrfly, Jasmine Sandlas spoke about how menstruation was never openly discussed at home before she reached puberty. Although she later learned about periods through school, she admitted that the information was not enough to prepare her for the actual experience.
Recalling the incident, Jasmine revealed that she was in Class 7 and living in New Jersey when she got her first period. The singer said she was frightened and did not understand what was happening to her body.
“I thought I had cancer. I thought I was going to die. I was so scared. I didn’t know how to tell my mom,” Jasmine shared during the podcast.
The singer explained that many young girls experience similar fears when they are not educated about menstruation beforehand. She added that while periods are a natural and meaningful part of growing up, the lack of conversations around them can make the experience overwhelming.

Jasmine Sandlas further stressed the importance of parents having honest conversations with children about menstruation before they experience it for the first time. She said early awareness can help young girls understand the changes happening in their bodies and avoid unnecessary fear or confusion.
Her candid revelation has received attention online, with several users sharing their own first-period experiences and discussing the need for better menstrual education and awareness.
On the professional front, Jasmine has been in the spotlight following her association with Dhurandhar 2and her recent musical releases. Apart from her work, the singer also made headlines after introducing her fiance Shekhar Chaudhary to fans during a concert in Delhi, officially making their relationship public.
Jasmine’s comments have once again highlighted the importance of normalising conversations around menstruation and ensuring that young girls receive the right information at the right age.
