Sony’s expansion into the gaming and PC accessory space has it primed to launch its first official fight stick for the PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, the FlexStrike wireless fight stick is no longer shipping on time. Originally set to launch in August alongside Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the new peripheral has been indefinitely delayed

“We wanted to share an update on the launch timing for FlexStrike wireless fight stick. Due to unexpected production delays, FlexStrike wireless fight stick will launch at a later date,” Sony shared in a new update on the PlayStation Blog. While the August 6 ship date is now off the table, the company isn’t yet providing a new time frame for the release. It promises more information “soon.”

We’re working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our players with FlexStrike, so we’re taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product. We apologize for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches

Players who have pre-ordered FlexStrike wireless fight stick from direct.playstation.com can check their order status through the website and will receive communications regarding their order. Players who pre-ordered through another retailer should look for updates directly from that retailer or contact them with any questions

Marvel Tokon is still arriving August 6 as planned. Kotaku shared promising hands-on impressions of the new tag-team fighting game from Evo 2026, where our writer was also able to test out the new fight stick. Here’s what they wrote:

As for the FlexStrike Fight Stick, the biggest part of it that stood out to me was its ergonomics. It’s tilted upwards towards the back, which lets my wrists fall in a more natural position than if it was flat. There wasn’t a single time where my hands or wrists felt uncomfortable. And while Marvel Tokon’s controls can be customized, the default controls felt incredibly intuitive on the fight stick

For $200, the fight stick better feel super comfortable. That price is in line with those of current top competitors in the market, including the Hori Fighting Stick Alpha ($200) and Razer Kitsune ($220). One question mark with Sony’s version is its PC compatibility, which the company says will roll out following launch. Despite being a console maker who’s pulling its future single-player games off of PC, Sony is also shipping a new desktop speaker and 27-inch gaming monitor this year. Those are still on track for their August 27 launches.
