PlayStation doubles Horizon Zero Dawn price after remaster launch – WGB

Following the announcement in October that Horizon: Zero Dawn would be remastered, PlayStation has increased the price of the PS4 version of the game.

According to price tracker PSPrices.com, which keeps an eye on the prices of thousands of games, the full version of Horizon Zero Dawn has been selling for a steady £15.99 to $19.99 on PSN since mid-2019. Time is when the game will go on sale, with the price usually reduced to £7.99/$9.99.

That is, until now. Following the reveal of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and the announcement that existing PS4 owners of the game will be able to upgrade for $10 (UK pricing is yet to be confirmed), the price of Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition has jumped to £34.99/39.99 USD on PSN. That’s just over double the previous cost.

The good news is that you can still buy a physical copy of the game on Amazon for £15.99. Unfortunately, the price on Amazon US reflects the PSN price, which is $39.99, but it’s always available on Ebay.

The reason is simple: Sony doesn’t want a huge influx of people to buy the game for £15.99/$19.99 so they can get the remastered version for a total of $29.99. Right now, you’ll have to pay $39.99 to buy the game and then pay $10 to upgrade, which will bring the total price to $49.99, which happens to be the MSRP of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.

How do you feel about the price increase?
