Epic Games has finally published the official odds for the Pirate Shop, ending around a week of guesswork about how rare the Pirate Shop Access token really is. The numbers are steep, but they’re better than some of the rumors going around. If you are interested in knowing the exact odds of obtaining the Fortnite Pirate Token, you are at the right place. Here’s the full breakdown and what you can realistically do about it.
Fortnite Pirate Token official drop rates
Epic Games has recently revealed the official drop rates of the different treasures appearing in chests, including the Pirate Token. Listed below are the published odds are:
- Weekly Gold Outfit: 1 in 1,562,500
- Pirate Shop Access: 1 in 137,500
- Weekly Vehicle & Decal: 1 in 7,813
- Weekly Pickaxe or Back Bling: 1 in 568
- Weekly Jam Track: 1 in 391
- Weekly Loading Screen: 1 in 272
- Gizmo (any): 1 in 127
The Pirate Shop Access token is the second-rarest item on the list, behind only the Weekly Gold Outfit. The odds appear to apply per chest opened, which matches how Epic describes the treasure.Earlier, a viral claim put the token’s odds at about 1 in 700,000, which some players treated as fact. The official figure is roughly five times better. It’s still rare, but it’s far from impossible.

Boosted rates during Treasure Hours
During Treasure Hours, including the one that took place earlier on November 7, three treasures get a boost:
- Pirate Shop Access: 1.5x
- Weekly Gold Outfit: 7.5x
- Weekly Vehicle & Decal: 10x
If the multipliers apply directly to the odds, here’s what that works out to:
- Pirate Shop Access: about 1 in 91,700
- Weekly Gold Outfit: about 1 in 208,300
- Weekly Vehicle & Decal: about 1 in 781
The Gold Outfit and Vehicle & Decal boosts are much larger than the token’s, so Treasure Hours help those prizes the most.
What the odds mean in practice
At 1 in 137,500, the chance of finding a token depends on how many chests you open. Using standard probability:
- 1,000 chests: about 0.7%
- 10,000 chests: about 7%
- 137,500 chests: about 63%
Even a dedicated player who opens thousands of chests is unlikely to find one. Epic’s statement also adds that rates stay constant from season launch and don’t change through the day, except during Treasure Hours. That rules out any time-of-day tricks. Apart from Gizmos, you can’t get the same treasure twice, so a token you’ve already found won’t drop again.
How to improve your chances
You can’t change the odds themselves, but you can increase how many chests you open and when:
- Play during Treasure Hours. They’re the only time the token gets a boost, and they run on Saturdays.
- Use Fortune Sprites. They reveal nearby chests, which means more openings per match.
- Squad up. A token found by one player is shared with the party, so more players means more shots at the same prize.
- Land where chests are dense. Points of interest with many Treasure Hunt Chests give you the most attempts per match.
- Set a limit. With odds this long, plan your time instead of chasing the token indefinitely.
