It was announced back in 2024 that Netflix was turning Stephenie Meyer’s novel Midnight Suninto an animated series, and this week brings an update on the project.
Released back in 2020, Midnight Sun retold the story of Twilightfrom Edward Cullen’s perspective, with a straight-to-series order announced for the animated series at the time.
This week, Lionsgate’s Kevin Beggs announced during an earnings call that Lionsgate has “high expectations” for the series, and he also spilled the beans that the project has actually already been ordered up for TWO seasons. Beggs noted, “That’s a 2-season adult animation order at Netflix. Stephenie and her team are very hands-on, really running the process along with us at Netflix.”
Thanks to the website What’s-on-Netflix for their reporting on this story.
