Fortnite is making almost everything in the Item Shop free for players for 14 days during the Treasure Hunters mini season – no, we’re not kidding. There is a catch, though: you need to find and unlock Pirate Shop Access to do so, and it is extremely rare. This IGN guide explains how to access the Pirate Shop in Fortnite so you can plunder it and get cosmetics like the One Piece skins, emotes, and more <a href="https://comicvibe.com/playstation-plus-officially-makes-10-10-trilogy-completely-free/” title=”PlayStation Plus Officially Makes 10/10 Trilogy Completely Free”>completely free without spending a single cent.

How to Unlock Pirate Shop Access in Fortnite
To unlock Pirate Shop Access and get Item Shop items for free in Fortnite, you must find a Pirate Shop Access Token during the Treasure Hunters mini season. It is a random drop when opening chests, and has an extremely rare drop rate – at the time of writing, we’ve only seen a handful of people with it.
Once you find a token, you won’t miss it as a large “YOU FOUND PIRATE SHOP ACCESS” banner appears at the top of your screen, as shown in a screenshot taken from @snowslept’s gameplay below.
If you’re in a team, your teammates also unlock Pirate Shop Access, too!
How Pirate Shop Access Works in Fortnite
When you return to the lobby after the match is over, a screen appears, informing you that you’ve unlocked Pirate Shop Access. You get two tokens, meaning not only can you get unlimited free Item Shop items during the Treasure Hunters mini season, but also once more in 2027. They both last for two weeks each, allowing you to claim almost anything from the Fortnite Item Shop for 14 days, potentially giving you hundreds of dollars worth of free stuff.
The first token can be redeemed any time between November 1 and December 15, 2026. This means that, if you find one, you can claim the One Piece collaboration skins for free. They typically cost 1,600 to 1,800 V-Bucks each.
It’s not just skins, though – almost anything requires V-Bucks is yours for the taking, including emotes, Jam Tracks, and other cosmetics. Paid items, such as bundles that cost real currency rather than V-Bucks, are not included. You can buy Sidekicks you don’t own, but only once.
There’s currently no known redeem window for the 2027 Pirate Shop Access token – it just says 2027. We assume this means you can activate it any time during the year, but that’s just a guess.
To activate your Pirate Shop Access token, open the Fortnite Item Shop and you should see a “PLUNDER THE SHOP” banner in the bottom-left corner.
Click this (hold Right Stick Click on PlayStation, Right Stick Clickon Xbox, Right Stick Click on Nintendo Switch) and a banner confirming you want to “START YOUR PLUNDERING!” appears. Click “ACTIVATE NOW” to start your 14-day window of free items.
If an item can be claimed, you’ll see “FREE” next to it. Go to buy it like you would a typical purchase from the shop, but instead of having to front V-Bucks to get it, it’s just added to your library for free. Heck yeah!
Note that free items are only for you – you cannot gift them to anyone else.
