Mariah Carey has dropped her ritualistic “It’s Time” post-<a href="https://comicvibe.com/sandra-bullock-shares-rare-look-into-halloween-with-her-2-kids/” title=”Sandra Bullock Shares Rare Look Into Halloween With Her 2 Kids”>Halloween transition video. With a signature high note and a flash of red velvet, the “Songbird Supreme” has officially declared the start of the holiday season, dethroning spooky season overnight.
What started as a spontaneous nod to her timeless 1994 smash hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has evolved into a global digital event. Here is how Mariah transformed November 1st into her personal holiday, why the ritual works so brilliantly, and how to embrace the early holiday cheer without burning out before December.
The Anatomy of the “Defrosting” Tradition
For half a decade, Mariah Carey’s November 1st unveilings have become as predictable and anticipated as the turn of the tide. The genius lies in how the concept has grown each year.
It began simple—smashing jack-o’-lanterns or stepping into a closet to swap a witch’s hat for Santa boots. The tradition peaked into viral absurdity when Mariah literally froze inside a vault of ice, holding out until November 1st struck to shatter the glass with a whistle note and unleash a blizzard of confetti.
Recent iterations play like high-budget mini-films—incorporating Addams Family aesthetics, transformations from Morticia into Mrs. Claus, and playful cameos.
Rather than fighting for attention in mid-December, she claims ownership of the entire two-month runway. The second the video drops, millions stream the track on Spotify and Apple Music, igniting a snowball effect that propels the 1994 single right back up the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Whether you love early holiday cheer or groan at retail stores putting out trees in October, everyone tunes in to watch the sheer spectacle of her annual video drop.
