Popular true crime YouTube channel Explore With Us (EWU) has been demonetized, prompting its creators to blast the platform’s “extreme censorship” and announce plans to shift more content to their own streaming service.
EWU is one of YouTube’s biggest true crime networks, producing documentaries featuring police interrogations, bodycam footage, investigative records, and other evidence obtained through extensive research.
The channel has even helped solve real crimes. In May 2026, EWU helped crack a 42-year-old murder cold case after funding DNA testing that contributed to a suspect’s arrest.
However, despite its investigative work, YouTube has reportedly determined that EWU’s videos violate monetization rules concerning repetitive or generic content.
In a lengthy community post, the creators <a href="https://comicvibe.com/chicago-bears-super-bowl-odds-revealed-after-major-trade/” title=”Chicago Bears Super Bowl Odds Revealed After Major Trade”>revealed the decision and made it clear they weren’t happy.
“Despite the countless hours our team spends investigating cases, obtaining public records, uncovering evidence, writing original scripts, and producing each documentary, YouTube has determined that our content violates its monetization policies concerning repetitive or generic content,” EWU explained.
“We strongly disagree with this decision, but we’re not giving up.”
EWUEWU blasts YouTube censorship and reveals plans for independent platform
EWU went on to criticize YouTube’s content restrictions, claiming its team has spent years heavily editing documentaries to comply with the platform’s rules.
“For years, producing documentaries for YouTube has meant working within restrictions on what we can show, what we can say, and how much of the original evidence we can include. Even certain words need to be muted to comply with their extreme censorship.”
