Studio and staff of Witch on the Holy Night

Ufotable brings to life Witch on the Holy Night. The studio also made Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, directed by Haruo Sotozaki with Hikaru Kondo as chief director. The original work was created by Kinoko Nasu and Type-Moon and belongs to the fantasy and supernatural genre.
Moe Tsuzuki oversees character design, with Masato Nagamori as chief animation director and Hideyuki Fukasawa as composer. Koji Eto is the art director, Manabu Kamino edits the film, and Hikaru Kondo is the chief director. Ufotable is also responsible for the script of the movie.
The voice casting includes Haruka Tomatsu and Kana Hanazawa as Aoko Aozaki and Alice Kuonji, respectively, while Yūsuke Kobayashi plays Sōjūrō Shizuki.
What is the story of Witch on the Holy Night?

Witch on the Holy Night is about Aoko Aozaki, who looks like a regular high school girl. However, she is a mage and an apprentice as well. Aoko lives with Alice Kuonji, a witch. Their life together is disturbed when they meet a boy.
The events of the game take place in the late 1980s. Aoko got the title of heir to her family’s magical art despite the fact that she has no interest in magic at all. She is also the student council president at her school. The boy is Sōjūrō Shizuki, a new student who knows little of the world. Aoko’s sister is deeply offended by the events.
From unpublished novel to visual novel

Witch on the Holy Night began appearing around the mid-1990s due to the efforts of the creator Kinoko Nasu and the artist Takashi Takeuchi. At that time, Nasu and Takeuchi presented novel ideas to their family and friends.
Later, the Type-Moon company was created, and the storyline was turned into a visual novel presented to the public with Hirokazu Koyama’s illustrations. It was released in April 2012. Two sequels were planned to be developed.
In December 2022, Aniplex delivered the game on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in the United States and Europe, which resulted in over 150,000 copies of the game being sold.
A rare link in the Nasuverse
Witch on the Holy Night connects strongly to the rest of the Nasuverse, the fan nickname for all works of Type-Moon. Aoko, who is an older character here, acts as a mentor to Shiki Tohno in Tsukihime. An older character, Tōko, hires Shiki Ryougi inThe Garden of Sinners.
Ufotable has had many projects with Type-Moon in the past, such as the Garden of Sinners series of films, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works anime series, and the Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel trilogy.
Witch on the Holy Night is set to release in Japan on November 20. For Indian fans, the film will release on January 29, 2027.
