Criminal Justice comes close second with it being on the popularity chart for 4 years & the acclaimed Black Warrant makes it to the 2025 list!

In a streaming landscape where new shows arrive every week and audience favourites constantly evolve, the true measure of a story lies in its ability to stay in the hearts and minds of viewers long after its release. IMDb’s newly released report on the decade’s most popular series in Indian streaming salutes the shows that have captured audience imagination. Three titles from Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment featuring Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, Criminal Justice and Black Warrant are on this prestigious list, which goes on to show how the company has championed incredible content and collaborated with the brightest and the best storytellers.

Scam 1992 leads IMDb’s 10 years of Indian Streaming most popular show’s list with appreciation across 5 consecutive years, starting from its release in Oct 2020 to 2024. This underscores the remarkable success of a series that continues to resonate with audiences even today. Criminal Justice has featured four times in this illustrious list for the years 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2025, reflecting sustained interest for this hit franchise season after season, while the unanimously loved Black Warrant has featured in the 2025 list, further strengthening the studios’ presence in the report.

Deepak Segal, Chief Content Officer, Applause Entertainment says, “The success and popularity of Scam 1992, directed by a creative visionary like Hansal Mehta, is a defining milestone in our creative journey. It is a legacy project that we will always cherish with immense pride and it spawned a franchise that the nation has only showered love on. We are thrilled that Hansal Mehta returns as the captain of the ship for Scam 2010, making it the most awaited series in India today. Likewise, Criminal Justice and Black Warrant are titles that have generated incredible love and appreciation for us and we are thrilled to note their continued resonance among audiences worldwide.”

Hansal Mehta, Director, Scam Franchise, says, “For me, Scam 1992’s success was never about how many people watched it when it premiered. It’s that, years later, the show still makes people question power, money, ambition and the systems we choose to trust. We told a story rooted in a pivotal moment in India’s financial history, and we told it with passion and conviction. For five consecutive years, it dominated the charts and people’s hearts. The rankings alone aren’t the compliment. What matters is what it reflects: people’s continued love for the show. That vindicates my belief in stories that go beyond numbers, beyond formula, and still end up delivering handsomely.”

For Pratik Gandhi, whose portrayal of Harshad Mehta became one of the most loved performances of the streaming era, the journey has been equally special. “There are roles you perform and then move on from, and there are roles that become a part of your journey. Harshad Mehta and Scam 1992 have been that for me. It opened up a world and opportunities for me that I’m truly grateful for and I have to thank Hansal Mehta for his vision to punt on me. The love audiences continue to shower on the series, on me even so many years later, is truly special and deeply humbling,” says Pratik Gandhi.

And the story of Scam is far from over. With its third season (Scam 2010) set to release, the franchise is preparing to return with another chapter from India’s financial history, building on a legacy that keeps the series delightfully awaited. Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment’s Scam 1992 leads IMDb’s 10 years of Indian Streaming most popular show’s list with appreciation across 5 consecutive years!
