Successionhit screens back in 2018, and through four seasons, the show kept us glued to the screen, following a family of billionaires who had billionaire people problems and lived inside a billionaire people world.
I started watching on a tip from a friend (hey there, Nacho!), who always recommends awful shows, so I booted up episode one just to roast him later. Truth hit me hard, for the show caught me off guard in a good way.
I mean, I felt awkward through plenty of scenes. Look at those interactions between Logan Roy and Shiv, or Logan with Kendall, or, well… most scenes where Logan Roy shows up!
Still, a show that started out funny and bright turned into a heavy drama. That world stays far from my daily reality, for the only inheritance I will ever fight my sisters over comes down to my parents’ unpaid debts. Yet, the story exposed issues that pop up in every family, on a larger or smaller scale.
Instead of redemption, all we got was a steep drop into total rot. Even if the show did not end the way folks expected, it gave us the most fitting final chapter possible. Nobody in that house earned a happy ending, for everyone made their own bed, and then everyone had to lie in it.
That felt refreshing for a change.
On this Tuesday series drop, I chose Succession, a show I enjoyed to the max that gave us top meme material.
Share these with your family, so everyone can laugh at your own dysfunctions bundled up inside one show.
