“From” has been streaming on MGM+ since its 2022 premiere, and while MGM+ says it’s the most-viewed series the platform has ever had, the show has never really broken out into the mainstream. Netflix picked up the first three seasons of “From” in the U.S. on October 19, though, and only a few days later, the show is already in Netflix’s top 10 TV shows, sitting at No. 3 as of this writing.

In “From,” anyone who drives into a certain small town can’t leave, and the people stuck there (most prominently Boyd Stevens, played by “Lost” star Harold Perrineau) have to survive the creatures that emerge from the woods every night. That setup could have come straight out of a Stephen King novel, and King himself has been a fan since 2023, when he told horror fans that if they weren’t watching “From,” they “should get with it.”

Earlier this year, we called “From” TV’s most underrated sci-fi horror series. If you’ve been waiting for an opportunity to give the show a chance without having to pick up yet another streaming subscription, now is a perfect opportunity to dive in, as “From” has officially made the leap to Netflix.

Netflix doesn’t have every season of ‘From’

Unfortunately, Netflix only has the first three seasons of “From.” Season 4, which wrapped up on MGM+ in June, isn’t part of the current Netflix deal. So, if you get through Season 3 and want to keep going, you’ll need to pick up an MGM+ subscription to do so. There’s also a fifth season on the way, to help tie up all the loose ends and bring the story to a close.

MGM+ renewed “From” for a final season back in April, a few days before the Season 4 premiere, and the creators promised in a joint statement that “questions will be answered. Answers will be questioned.” That sounds a bit ominous, all things considered, but at least viewers can rest easy knowing that the writers have an ending in mind. Season 5 is currently expected to arrive in 2027.

Critics seem to really like the show as well, with all four seasons scoring 93% or higher on Rotten Tomatoes. If you’re looking for something new to watch this Halloween, “From” is an easy pick, and you can stream the first three seasons on Netflix right now.

Why fans of Stephen King should check out ‘From’

As for why Stephen King fans should care, well, not only has King been talking about “From” since he watched the third episode, but the show also features similar vibes to his books. King’s first post about “From” called it a “wonderful concept” that was “beautifully handled,” even going so far as to share thoughts on what might be happening in the plot. Of course, “From” isn’t the only show that King has praised over the years. He also called the “Dracula” TV show “bloody terrific.” You can also check it out on Netflix to see if you agree.

Some fans have even gone as far as comparing “From” to popular King titles like “‘Salem’s Lot” and “Under the Dome,” though the people in “From” never asked to be there in the first place. Most of them are unwilling residents who just happened to drive into the wrong town, and the show spends a lot of time on showing how they’re trying to hold onto some kind of normal life while they look for a way back home.

Another title that “From” has seen comparisons to is “Lost.” As mentioned, the cast features Harold Perrineau, a former “Lost” actor. Perrineau plays Boyd Stevens, the self-appointed sheriff and leader of the town in “From.” Additionally, Jeff Pinkner and Jack Bender, the showrunner and one of the primary directors on “From” both previously worked on “Lost.” Even the town itself seems to work a lot like the island from “Lost.” So, if you liked “Lost,” it might be worth giving the first three seasons of “From” a try now that they’re on Netflix.
