Wilbur Soot is facing renewed scrutiny after an X user, @Aria15714, accused the British content creator of sexual assault in an alleged incident in Brighton in January 2024. The post, which has gained significant attention online, describes an alleged encounter involving unwanted sexual contact and explains why the accuser waited nearly three years to speak publicly. The claims remain unverified, with no independent corroborating evidence publicly presented and no response from Soot specifically addressing the latest allegation.
British content creator, streamer and musician Wilbur Soot, whose real name is William Gold, rose to prominence through his Minecraft videos, collaborations with popular online creators and his involvement in the indie rock band Lovejoy. He built a substantial following on YouTube and Twitch before expanding into music, with Lovejoy releasing its debut album, One Simple Trick, in October 2025. Over the years, Soot established himself as a prominent figure in the online gaming and streaming community.
However, his career came under scrutiny in February 2024 after former partners accused him of abusive behaviour during their relationships. The controversy resurfaced in October 2026 following new allegations circulating on X, shared by user @Aria15714.
For the unversed, Soot also faced further allegations from cosplayer AliceNyanNya in March 2024 and streamer HeyimRue in February 2025, both of whom described alleged inappropriate conduct. While Soot addressed the earlier controversy in a YouTube update in June 2025, no publicly documented response specifically addressing the latest claims was found in the
What are the new allegations against Wilbur Soot?
On 21 October 2026, an X account under the name @Aria15714 published a detailed post accusing Soot of sexual assault. The post, which quickly gained significant traction with over a million views, describes an alleged incident that took place in January 2024 in Brighton.
According to the account, the author was 19 at the time and living in the city. Soot would’ve been 28. She says she had met him a small number of times previously through mutual friends, always in group settings, and that the two were not close. She stated that she had “seen him less than 4 times before the incident, always in a big group of people” and that “we just never really hit it off.” On the night in question, after celebrating a friend’s birthday at a nearby pub, she was walking home intoxicated when she unexpectedly encountered him. She stated that her friends left once she began talking with him and that she was openly distressed about a recent breakup. She explained that she had been drinking and that Soot knew she was “quite drunk.” Soot allegedly offered to walk her the short distance home, which she said “seemed completely innocent” because she could “hardly walk without tripping over.” Once there, the post claimed he invited himself inside, and while she was crying on the couch, he initiated unwanted physical contact and forced himself on her despite her repeated verbal protests and distress. She stated: “I was sobbing on my couch when Will put his hands up my shirt. He then forced himself on me. I remember crying and telling him to stop.” She said she woke the next morning to find he had left, and she did not see him again afterwards.

The author of the post further explained that the memory of the night remains “very blurry” and that it took considerable time to piece together. She delayed speaking publicly for nearly three years, citing intense shame, embarrassment, fear of backlash from Soot’s large fanbase, and concern that he knew her address. She said that when earlier allegations against him became public, she “did want to say something on the internet” but felt it was “too fresh” and that she was “too embarrassed, ashamed, and scared.” She also said she was afraid that his fans would attack her and that he might “do something, since he knew where I lived.” She notes that she first considered coming forward around the time of earlier public allegations against him but ultimately waited until she felt safer, having since moved a significant distance away.
In the post she states she currently has no intention of involving the police or pursuing legal action. She wrote: “At the moment, I do not want to press any charges or take legal action,” adding that she is now living “over 20 hours away” and does not see a reason to involve the police at present.
However, these claims are currently unverified. The account is relatively new, and no independent corroborating evidence has been publicly presented. As of now, Wilbur Soot has not issued a response to this specific allegation. In the absence of further substantiation or formal investigation, the account remains an unverified personal claim.
Past allegations against him
In early 2024, Wilbur Soot faced significant public scrutiny following allegations of abusive behaviour from former partners. The claims, shared primarily online, focused on physical and emotional conduct and sparked widespread discussion in the streaming community.
In February 2024, Twitch streamer Shelby “Shubble” Grace went live in a stream titled “Talking About Something More Serious”. Without naming anyone, she described a relationship with a British ex-partner who repeatedly bit her hard enough to leave bruises on her arms and later her legs. She said the biting continued and sometimes intensified after she used a safe word and that he would poke the bruises and joke that they made it look like he had abused her. Online viewers quickly connected the details to Wilbur Soot due to their known past relationship and comments from others about his biting habit.

In March 2024, cosplayer AliceNyanNya shared her own account. She described a 2019 relationship marked by what she called love-bombing alternating with condescension, and alleged that during a 2021 meetup intended for closure, Soot got her heavily intoxicated, took her back to his house, and non-consensually removed her clothes while she was blacked out. She said she was encouraged to speak after Shubble’s stream.
These past few years have been difficult but I finally feel safe enough to speak out about my experience with Wilbur. https://t.co/Eztt9TVkjV

A further allegation surfaced in February 2025 from streamer HeyimRue, who claimed inappropriate conduct around the time she turned 18, including an incident on a Lovejoy tour bus. Soot has not issued a public response to that specific claim.
Activity since the allegations
Following the early 2024 allegations, Wilbur Soot largely stepped back from public content creation and social media. His band, Lovejoy cancelled planned U.S. tour dates and festival appearances in March 2024, citing concerns over his mental health.
He returned to social media in June 2024 with a short update focused on the band, Lovesjoy’s plans, including an Australian tour and new music.
In a June 2025 YouTube update video, Soot briefly referenced the prior accusations, stood by his original 2024 statement, rejected the labels applied to him online, and declined to share further private details. He announced a return to YouTube content but said he was stepping away from Minecraft for the time being. New videos (including a planned geography series) would appear on his older 2017 channel rather than his main one. By late 2025 he indicated that streaming—previously a firm no—had become a strong possibility, most likely on YouTube.
As for the new allegations which have surfaced on X by user @Aria15714, no new statement from the streamer’s behalf has been released and remains largely unverified.
