Earlier today, CD Projekt Red announced a surprise Cyberpunk 20772.5 update whose release will coincide with the launch of the second season of the Cyberpunk: EdgerunnersNetflix show. While details are scarce as the publisher only announced new content based on the show, more details have leaked, and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S have a lot to be happy about, as the console versions of the game are getting a highly requested FOV setting, among other things.
As reported on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit, a video shared on YouTube (which has since been made private) leaked what the patch will include before CD Projekt Red could themselves tomorrow, October 21. The new content includes a new perk, new sidequests, clothing sets, and a new radio station, among other things, as well as Mod.io support on all platforms with the exception of the Nintendo Switch 2 and an FOV setting on consoles.
- Dual Wielding PISTOLS in Cool Tree (Double Trouble perk)
- New Edgerunners 2 Gig (Clampdown)
- New NC Tour mystery Sidequest
- 5 new clothing sets
- new radio station w/ Edgerunners soundtracks
- Glamdocs that customize your arm cyberware
- new hairstyles for both male and female v
- Quadra skins via Twitch drops
- baked in Mod.io support on all major platforms (no switch2)
- FOV on consoles
Aside from supporting mods on consoles, the biggest addition of the Cyberpunk 20772.5 update is the highly requested FOV setting. The low default value can induce motion sickness in some players while also making it difficult to drive vehicles in first-person view, so the new setting is set to be game-changing for a lot of players. In addition, this new setting will bring Cyberpunk 2077 to the same level as most current-generation first-person games, which feature an FOV setting at launch, something that CD Projekt Red likely didn’t implement at launch due to the technical limitations of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
After launching The Witcher 3 Remastered, no one would have expected CD Projekt Red to update Cyberpunk 2077 again with new content and features. As the two games are following similar trajectories, it ultimately wouldn’t be surprising for the Polish developer to launch a second DLC expansion years after the base game’s launch, as they will do with The Witcher 3: Song of the Past expansion set for 2027, to bridge the gap with the upcoming, yet-to-be-named second entry in the series for yet another adventure set in Night City.
