Nintendo will be celebrating The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary in some very big ways. We have The Legend of Zelda movie coming out April 30th, 2027, a worldwide concert tour is taking place, and of course, more Zelda software and hardware is in the works. Without a doubt, it’s a fantastic time to be a Zelda fan.
The next big thing on the horizon for Zelda faithful is one of the biggest, with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming to Switch 2 on Nov. 5th, 2026. One week before that Nintendo is releasing the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 along with a 40th Anniversary Switch 2 Pro Controller. If you happen to be picking up that Anniversary Edition Switch 2, you’ve got a little Easter egg waiting for you underneath the dock’s back plate. If you want to keep it a secret then stop reading! If you don’t mind spoiling things, continue on below.

We’ve gotten a sneak peek at what the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 dock looks like, and in particular we’re just now seeing what’s going on under the back plate. Turns out Nintendo continued the Zelda fun underneath the back plate, as there’s Link and Zelda sprites holding pieces of the Triforce, as well as two full rows of heart containers.
We’ve seen Nintendo hide away secrets in hardware for years now, and it’s great to see them continuing the trend for Zelda’s 40th. (h/t Nintendo Patents Watch)
