Michael Douglas needs a superhero to rescue him from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In a recent Happy Sad Confused interview, the 82-year-old actor confirmed that he’s asked for his Ant-Man character, Dr. Hank Pym, to die in the superhero franchise — but that apparently just isn’t happening.
“Is it true that you asked to be killed off in the lastAnt-Man film?” host Josh Horowitz asked, to which Douglas responded, “I would have been killed off after the second one, but they wouldn’t let me.”

The two-time Oscar winner explained that he became interested in starring in a CGI-heavy film like Ant-Man after beating cancer in 2011.
“I said, ‘I’ve never done a green screen movie,'” Douglas said. “I [told] all my agents, ‘I’d like to do one of these green screen movies to see what they’re like,’ you know? Because it’s amazing. It’s nothing, just a green screen and they show you the pictures of what it’s gonna look like when it’s all finished.”
It certainly wasn’t easy. “It’s hard acting, man,” he added. “It’s coming at you here, this and that, you know.”
That hasn’t been the only challenge that Douglas has encountered since joining the MCU, either.
“We did Ant-Man and Paul Rudd was a wonderful actor — a lovely group — but then you can’t get out of it,” Douglas said, joking that he should’ve read “the fine print” that came with his contract.
