The Honey Sprite buzzed into Fortnite on October 15 with the v42.40 update, part of Fortnitemares 2026. It’s one of the five winners of Epic’s “Design A Sprite” contest, and it looks like a blob of honey with a dipper stuck in its head and honeycombs on its body.The Sprite features a unique ability in the battle royale experience, which allows you to deal passive damage to the opponents. Where to find the Honey Sprite in FortniteThe quickest method is smashing Pumpkin chests, which are scattered across the map and guarantee one of the new Fortnitemares Sprites. Other routes include:
- Chests: Searching rare or normal chests can also drop Sprites, though the rates are low.
- Trick or Treat Cheat Codes: These appear everywhere, but a few are “Corrupted” and glitch out when you try to enter them. Hit the code once with your Pickaxe, then enter it again.
- Lucky Locator Gizmo: It leads you to a buried chest holding a Sprite you haven’t found yet, which is ideal if the Honey Sprite is your last one.
- Cheat Code Locator Gizmo: It reveals a high-rarity Cheat Code with a good chance of giving recent or rare Sprites.
- Trading: Swap Sprites with friends, offering something like the new Deer or Spooky Dash Sprites.
- Combat: Eliminating players with a Bounty Hunter Sprite equipped, or defeating Chapter 7 Season 4 bosses, gives a small chance at a Sprite.
Best locations to search
Start in and around Nightmare Neighborhood, the POI added in the v42.30 update. It has plenty of Pumpkin chests, and Freddy Krueger lurks nearby, so beating him earns you Freddy’s Nightmare.
What the Honey Sprite does in Fortnite
When you deal damage with a ranged weapon, the Honey Sprite has a chance to spawn bees at the hit location, creating passive damage. The one downside: you need to be taking damage for the ability to trigger, so keep healing items like the Snack-O’-Lantern Gizmo handy.To level it, open containers, smash Pumpkins, search chests, eliminate opponents, and use items. The Bounty Hunter variant is the exception and only levels through eliminations.

- Trick or Treat: Base power, plus a chance to find candy in containers
