Josh Hutcherson (“The Hunger Games”) and Mackenzie Davis (“Station Eleven”) will be taking on the lead voice roles of Scott Free and Big Barda in Tom King’s upcoming “Mister Miracle” animated series at DC Studios.
The title is based on the acclaimed twelve-issue comic book series of the same name by Tom King and Mitch Gerads, with King serving as showrunner and executive producer.
DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran confirmed the casting with IGN at the recent world premiere of “Clayface”. Speaking about King, he discussed how the man’s work on HBO Max’s “Lanterns” helped with this animated series:
“I think that Tom King really learned a lot in his season of co-creating and executive producing Lanterns and he adapted his book Mr. Miracle fully on his own, wrote all eight <a href="https://comicvibe.com/dark-matter-season-2-episode-8-reveals-who-charlie-saw-at-laurels-house/” title=”'Dark Matter' Season 2, episode 8 reveals who Charlie saw at Laurel's house”>episodes and I think it’s just dynamite. Josh Hutcherson as Scott Free and Mackenzie Davis as Big Barda. And I just think it’s a book that I’ve always loved and I remember Tom telling us early on that, every convention he goes to, at least a couple people come up to him and say this book saved my life and I love that we got to tell that story over eight episodes. And it’s just a beautiful story.”
The series follows Scott Free, the worldwide celebrity sensation known as Mister Miracle, who is the greatest escape artist who ever lived. But can he pull off the ultimate trick – and escape death itself?
Something has gone horribly wrong with the perfect life that Scott and his warrior wife Big Barda have built for themselves on Earth. With war raging between their home worlds of Apocalypse and New Genesis, Scott’s cruel adoptive father Darkseid seems to have finally captured the Anti-Life Equation – the ultimate weapon that will give Darkseid total dominance over the universe.
As the mountains of bodies on both sides grow ever higher, only Mister Miracle can stop the slaughter and restore peace. But the terrible power of the Anti-Life Equation may already be at work in his own mind.
Nathan Fillion will reprise his Guy Gardner/Green Lantern role in the eight-episode animated series. No premiere date has been set as yet.
