Valve is prohibited Counter-Strike 2 Players can use keyboard functions to automate the perfect counterattack. Razer was the first keyboard manufacturer to add Simultaneous Cardinal Direction Reverse (SOCD) functionality to its Huntsman V3 Pro keyboard line last month, with Wooting following suit. Using what Razer calls Snap Tap or Wooting’s Snappy Tappy will now get you kicked out Counter-Strike 2 game.
“Recently, some hardware features have blurred the lines between manual input and automation, so we decided to clarify what is and isn’t acceptable in Counter-Strike,” Valve said. “We will no longer allow automation (via scripts or hardware) that circumvents these core abilities, and in the future (initially only on official Valve servers) players suspected of automating multiple player actions through a single game input may was kicked out of their game.
I have tested using SOCD Counter-Strike 2 This morning it can be confirmed that you have been removed from the game on Valve’s official servers, but there is no account ban. Valve is in the process of banning the use of these keyboard features, but it doesn’t appear ready to ban accounts from using them just yet.
Both Razer and Wooting’s SOCD feature allows players to automatically switch strafe directions without having to learn skills. Normally, to switch strafe directions in first-person shooters, you have to fully release one key and then press another. If you press two keys at the same time, they cancel each other out and you’re left standing there for a moment until you release one of the keys. SOCD means you can easily counterattack by quickly tapping the A or D button without letting go of the button.
some professional Counter-Strike 2 Players are calling for SOCD to be banned, just as two empty binds in opposite directions have been banned in tournaments for years.
After Razer rolled out SOCD functionality on its own hardware, Wooting reluctantly added a SOCD beta to its keyboard line. “We’re pleased that Valve has taken a stance against Snap Tap,” Wooting said in a post on X today. “Stop using Snappy Tappy (SOCD) or Rappy Snappy in CS2 as this will cause kicks.”
