Jobs have been lost at a Cheshire-based pop culture ecommerce firm after the business, which was once owned by THG, ceased trading following a period of significant cashflow pressure.
Based in the Winsford Industrial Estate, ZavviGroup Ltd sold pop-culture printed garments and graphic tees under licence, in addition to a wide range of toys, games, books and trading cards
Chris Skey and Kerry Bailey of BDO LLP were appointed as joint administrators of Cheshire-based ZavviGroup Ltd, trading as Zavvi, this week.
The company had recently faced cashflow pressures due in part to high stock levels and related warehousing costs, the administrators said.
The business filed the first of three notices of intention to appoint administrators in September amid mounting financial difficulties.
Prior to the appointment of administrators, efforts were made to sell the business as a going concern but this proved not to be possible.
The majority of the company’s 70-strong workforce have now been made redundant with immediate effect, BDO said, with a small number of employees retained in the short-term to assist administrators with the wind-down.
Chris Skey, one of the joint administrators, said: “Despite the <a href="https://comicvibe.com/gta-6-is-ps5-pro-the-best-way-to-experience-the-game-at-launch/” title=”'GTA 6': Is PS5 Pro the best way to experience the game at launch?”>best efforts of the management team, it was not possible to find a buyer for the business as a going concern. Regrettably, this means the business has had to close and staff have been made redundant.
“We will be working to support affected employees with any claims to the Redundancy Payments Office.
“Customers who have paid for goods that have not yet been received are encouraged to visit the Zavvi.com website for advice on pursuing claims with their card providers and submitting creditor claims.”
Zavvi was owned by THG from 2009 to 2023 until the business was acquired by management.
