Live from New York, Comic Con turns 20! This past weekend, the East Coast’s largest pop culture convention welcomed fans, artists, and stars for a four-day festival. There was an attempt to break the world record for the largest gathering of Spider-Men, a cosplay contest with a $1,000 prize, and, of course, tons of news about your favorite franchises. We’re breaking down everything announced at the con.

    Day 1

The cast of Dexter: Resurrection hit up the Main Stage to celebrate the franchise’s 20th anniversary and tease what’s ahead for season 2 of Resurrection. Executive producers Clyde Phillips, Scott Reynolds, and Marcos Siega joined cast members Michael C. Hall, Uma Thurman, James Remar, Jack Alcott, Bokeem Woodbine, and Krysten Ritter to preview the new season, which features the notorious Bay Harbor Butcher (Hall) as he tackles a midlife crisis and New York’s latest serial killers. Eric Stonestreet crashed the panel, hinting at the return of Rapunzel, the only killer Dexter failed to catch in season 1.

It might not have been Hall H, but Marvel still brought the heat to the Javits Center. The countdown to Avengers: Doomsday continued with costumes on display and a special Doomsday-themed F1 car showcased in collaboration with the Atlassian Williams F1 Team. At a 90-minute panel, the studio also unveiled updates to their slate of TV and animation series.

The biggest news from the panel was the announcement of the new live-action series Zodiac, which hits Disney+ in 2028. The series, which begins production in spring, is teased to be a “spy thriller,” Keen-eyed fans might notice hints of SHIELD in the logo for Zodiac, and avid comic readers might hope for the introduction of Jake Fury, younger brother to Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and leader of the criminal organization Zodiac

Hell’s Kitchen made its way to Midtown as the Defenders — Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Danny Rand (Finn Jones) — reunited to debut an exclusive look at the third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again. And in another surprise, the cast of VisionQuest appeared to give panel attendees a special premiere of the first episode, which drops on Disney+ October 14.

In animation news, Winderbaum announced three new specials for Marvel Zombies. The Winter Soldier drops in 2027, The Fist of Khonshuin 2028, and The Last Guardian in 2029. Also, season 2 ofYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man set its release date for January 13, and the studio showed a teaser for season 3 of X-Men ’97.

Day 1 of NYCC also featured two exclusive screenings. The first was for Crystal Lake, the Peacock/A24 prequel series to Friday the 13th. Showrunner Brad Kane teased that a sequence in the show, which stars Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees and premieres on October 15, includes “shot-by-shot recreations of scenes from [Friday the 13th].” The second screening, right before Crystal Lake, was the world premiere of season 3, part 1 of Helluva Boss, which drops on Prime Video October 14th.

    Day 2

On the premiere day of Avatar: Seven Havens, Legend of Korra star Janet Varney moderated a panel celebrating the show and unveiling the slate for what’s next in the Avatar universe. The panel, which included executive producers Mike DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, Ethan Spaulding, and Sehaj Sethi, and cast members Saheli Khan, Aishu Devan, and Major Curda, announced the show had been renewed for two more seasons, bringing the story of the Seven Havens through seasons 3 and 4. Avatar: Seven Havens follows the young Earthbender Pavi (Khan), who, after learning she’s the reincarnation of the Avatar, works with her sister Nisha (Devan) to discover their origins and save their home from danger.

The panel also announced a new series, Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos, a prequel story to the franchise. First looks of Wave of Chaosshow a Waterbending character who carries a surfboard, but it’s still unclear how far back Wave of Chaos is set compared to The Last Airbender.

Next up, AMC+ revealed updates for four TV shows. First, Catherine Zeta-Jones debuted a sneak peek of her new show Kill Jackie with executive producers Tom Butterworth and Peter Lawson. Next, Carrie-Anne Moss previewed the streamer’s new horror mystery Yaga, a modern adaptation of the Slavic legend Baba Yaga which premieres October 23. Then, returning show Mayfair Witches announced the show’s third season Salem Coven would premiere December 30, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon teased the fourth and final season with a new trailer paying tribute to the 15-year story of Caryl, the fan name for Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride).

Ed Weeks, Allegra Edwards, Jaren Lewison, Helen J. Shen, Parker Young, and Rose Abdoo, the stars of CBS’s newest sitcom Eternally Yours, greeted fans at New York Comic Con to celebrate the show’s premiere and tease what’s ahead. Upcoming guest stars for the series include Tim Meadows as a vampire dentist, Asif Ali as a bureaucratic vampire, and Jeff Hiller as Aldrict, a troublemaking vampire. The show also teased a special Christmas-themed episode would premiere later this year.

In other CBS comedy news, the panel for Ghosts announced Survivor star Parvati Shallow would have a special role in the show’s 100th episode, which will air in 2027 and is also set to see Matt Walsh return as the demon Elias Woodstone. With that and two holiday specials coming in 2026, Ghosties have tons to look forward to in the months ahead.

As Whalefall splashes into theaters October 16, stars Austin Abrams (fresh off a trip to Raccoon City) and Josh Brolin (who plays Abrams’s father in the film) touched down at the Empire Stage to discuss the film. Co-writer and author Daniel Kraus shared behind-the-scenes stories of adapting Whalefall to film, such as consulting marine biologists to learn if a person could really be swallowed by a whale and his admission that he never thought Whalefall would be adapted to film. Also, Abrams recalled filming an audition in a tent to mimic the claustrophobia from being inside a whale, Brolin teased he provided the heartbeat for the whale that swallows Abrams’s character Jay, and director Brian Duffield shouted out Wētā Workshop for creating a biologically accurate whale.

Maybe the most anticipated panel of the day was BlumFest 2026, hosted by YouTuber MatPat. If fans were looking for updates on Blumhouse’s new horror releases, they got them: the production company announced 9 new movies for their 2027 slate. Notable titles include The Revenge of La Llorona, the sequel to 2019’s The Curse of La Llorona, which releases February 26;The Exorcist: Martyrs, the seventh film in the franchise, releasing March 12; Anything But Ghosts, written by and starring Curry Barker and Cooper Tomlinson, releasing May 7; Paranormal Activity 8, releasing May 21; and a reboot of The Blair Witch Project releasing September 24.

With an announcement of his own, MatPat revealed he is partnering with Blumhouse to work on adapting his “all-time favorite indie games and horror channels from the online interwebs” to the big screen. The studio announced the first film from this partnership is a live-action adaptation of Amanda the Adventurer, a horror game in which the player solves puzzles to find VHS tapes of a children’s show where characters can interact with the world outside the television. Following the theatrical success of YouTube horror Backrooms, MatPat might be the Internet’s best authority on what’s next in horror. But that’s just a theory…

    Day 3

Bob’s Burgers and Futurama teamed up for a double-feature panel Saturday morning. While we might be saying goodbye to Futurama‘s episodic run (for now, at least), head writer David X. Cohen announced the show was renewed for 3 “supersized” specials releasing in 2027 and 2028, and fans enjoyed a sneak preview of 2027’s holiday special. Ahead of Bob’s Burgers‘ return in early 2027, the cast announced a Hulu-exclusive holiday short, “On the Fort Day of Christmas,” would premiere on December 7.

For more TV news, Greendale Community College alumni Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Ken Jeong, and Jim Rash were up next for a Community retrospective. McHale called Community creator Dan Harmon during the panel to ask directly for updates to the long-anticipated movie, but was sent to voicemail, so fans will unfortunately have to wait.

Walker Scobell later made his Comic Con debut to discuss Season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which adapts The Titan’s Curse and premieres on Disney+ November 20. Scobell announced the new season would be releasing two episodes a week, a change from previous episode-a-week releases.

Hunter Schafer and Michelle Yeoh showed a new trailer, key art, and production stories for Blade Runner 2099, which sees Yeoh as Olwen, a Replicant days from dying who teams up with Blade Runner and fugitive-in-hiding Cora (Schafer) to hunt down a runaway in a Los Angeles shaken up after a Replicant uprising.

“It’s hard to be opposite someone so gorgeous,” Yeoh joked. “But it was very tough to keep up with her, because we had a lot of running in the show.”

Lashana Lynch, Tosin Cole, Amandla Stenberg, Thuso Mbedu, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Damson Idris, the stars of 2027’s Children of Blood and Bone, wrapped up the day to preview the upcoming film. Mbedu, who stars as Zélie Adebola, shared she learned to use the bowstaff for the film’s action sequences, saying stunts coordinator Danny Hernandez “built a choreographical language… that was a mix of wushu, capoeira, [and] other African-inspired fighting styles” for the film.

    Day 4

Sunday wrapped up the convention with panels for NCIS: New York, Fox’s comedy slate, and Season 9 of The Rookie.

Stars LL CooL J, Scott Caan, Jennifer Beals, Jacqueline Byers, Shane Harper, and Devin Druid previewed NCIS: New York for the home crowd. “You have the whole world crammed into a city, so you have so many options and really high-stakes crimes that take place in different boroughs and different cultures and different settings. Our philosophy on this show is that we want you guys to feel like these crimes are relatable to you, so we try to keep it as grounded as possible,” said executive producer Byron Balasco, also at the panel. “[It’s] everything you love about NCIS, but we want to do it on the streets of New York so you really feel like you’re in the city.”

Knicks in five, and NCIS in seven, as New York joins the franchise as the seventh spinoff.

Joel McHale, star of Animal Control, and Jon Hamm, star of Grimsburg, took to the Main Stage to preview the new seasons of their upcoming shows. McHale teased season 5 of Animal Control will be “weirder with bigger jokes” and compared the show to Obsession“but with cute animals” with their shared high-stakes scenarios. Hamm showed a clip from the first episode of GrimsburgSeason 3, a parody of HBO’s The Last of Us where a handsome man (with many similarities to leading man Pedro Pascal) infects everyone in the town except Marvin Flute (Hamm) with a “Zaddy virus.”

Finally, the cast of The Rookie — Nathan Fillion, Melissa O’Neil, Richard T. Jones, Shawn Ashmore, Deric Augustine, Lisseth Chavez, Mekia Cox, and Alyssa Diaz — talked season 9 of the show. The panel started with news of Troian Bellisario and Dulé Hill joining season 9 as new rookies. Jay Ellis, star of The Rookie: North, was also present at the panel to talk the spin-off and show a first look at the new show, featuring a cameo from Fillion’s character John Nolan. Most importantly, the panel revealed The Rookie and The Rookie: North will both premiere on January 6, 2027, with season 9 of The Rookie airing right before the debut of The Rookie: North on ABC.
