We know that Japan and North America are both absolutely huge regions for Nintendo in terms of audience size and support, but there are plenty of other places where Nintendo fans are passionate and their products do big numbers. Brazil happens to be one of those places and now Nintendo is making a point to acknowledge that support publicly.
In a chat with <a href="https://veja.abril.com.br/tecnologia/nintendo-ve-brasil-entre-10-principais-mercados-de-games-do-mundo/” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>Veja, Nintendo America president Devon Pritchard spoke at length about the reception Nintendo’s products receive in Brazil. According to Pritchard, Nintendo does big business in Brazil and the fans there are quite fervent. That’s especially true when it comes to the Legend of Zelda series, with the Ocarina of Time remake bringing fans out in droves. In her comments, Pritchard makes it clear that Nintendo very much sees their audience in Brazil and will do even more going forward to support them through localizations, stock replenishments and more. We are very impressed with the reception of the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. And we understand that there is a continuous demand for more units of the special edition console and other products. So, what I can say is: this is the 40th anniversary of the Zelda series, it’s a whole year of celebration, so we look forward to bringing more of this special edition product to the region over time.
Nintendo wants to make its products accessible to people in Brazil, and we understand that this means having products available in Portuguese. Two-thirds of our first-party titles since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 have been localized in Portuguese, but we also recognize the opportunity to continue our focus in this area, and that’s something we’re committed to doing over the next few years.
Brazil is incredibly important to Nintendo of America. And I think you’ve seen that over the last six years as we’ve built our market presence. It’s one of the top 10 video game markets worldwide with an incredibly passionate and dedicated fanbase when it comes to games. We have a supportive Nintendo community here in Brazil, so we’re very excited about the opportunity to connect and help bring more experiences to the region that Brazilian consumers can connect with and build that brand presence over the coming years.
