Bigg Boss 20 Weekend Ka Vaar saw the wildcard entry of Manish Goel, a popular face on television who was last seen in Anupamaa. In an exclusive chat with mid-day, the actor opens up about entering the reality show, the struggles behind his career, and reuniting with Salman Khan after 15 years.
Manish Goel on entering Bigg Boss 20 as a wildcard
“I was not called for the initial part. I was specially called for the wildcard only, and yes, I wanted to explore it. I’ll be very honest. It’s been 20-25 years since I have been working in television, and I feel that people don’t know the real side of Manish Goel. They know my characters. From Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii to Anupamaa, the graph has been amazing. God is very kind. But I have been very secluded in my life. I have been very private. So, I think this is the time when people will actually get to know me,” says Manish about entering Bigg Boss 20 as a wildcard contestant.
Speaking about his approach to the show, he says, “I can assure you that whenever I leave the house, it’s going to be with a lot of sanity and dignity. I give a lot of value to relationships. There is an inspiring and motivational side to me because of the journey I have had, and that is still untapped.”
When asked if he has been following the current season of Bigg Boss 20, Manish Goel says, “For the first time, I haven’t watched a single episode of Bigg Boss. I’ve only seen whatever I came across on Instagram. Ever since people got to know about my entry, I’ve received a lot of feedback. But I’m going in with a clean slate. From day one, I want to explore the relationships and see how things unfold.”
Manish Goel recalls his struggling phase
Manish Goel opens up about the highs and lows of his career, revealing that even after becoming a star, he faced rejection. Between 2011 and 2015, the actor gave nearly 100 auditions but failed to crack any of them. “I never talked to anyone about it. So, you know, there have been highs and lows. No one knows that I ran away from Delhi at the age of 17 and started as a spotboy,” he says.
The actor also speaks about the enduring popularity of his song Dil Lagi Kudi Gujarat Di, which continues to be a hit even today. He points out that while many people recognise the song, they often take time to recognise him.
Manish Goel on meeting Salman Khan after 15 years
Manish is also looking forward to meeting Salman Khan after 15 years. The actor shares a special connection with the superstar, having previously set a Guinness World Record with him.
“I had set a Guinness World Record with Salman Khan, and I had won that Guinness record with him. So, I’m meeting him exactly after 15 years,” he says.
