Virtual reality (VR) technology allows young people to directly step into the past, sparking their interest in learning, fostering national pride, and spreading historical values in modern life.

On the morning of October 10th, to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi, the program “Returning to the Sacred Moment,” organized by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Cua Nam Ward, officially opened at Hanoi Book Street (19/12 Street, Cua Nam Ward).

Using virtual reality (VR) technology, visitors can experience a journey back in time to the autumn of 1945 at Ba Dinh Square, listening to President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence.

Bringing history closer to the public.

First launched in Hanoi to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day in 2025, “Returning to the Sacred Moment” continues its journey to many locations, from Quang Ninh, the Kim Lien National Special Historical Site (Nghe An) to the Independence Palace (Ho Chi Minh City) and Da Nang.

At several recent venues, the program attracted thousands of participants, leaving behind memorable emotions and impressions for the public.

Amidst the exhilarating and proud atmosphere of the historic month of October, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), in coordination with the People’s Committee of Cua Nam Ward, VTC News online newspaper, and the Center for Culture, Information and Sports , and in collaboration with Virtual Park, organized the program “Returning to the Sacred Moment” at Book Street, Hanoi, right in Cua Nam Ward.

The program is even more meaningful as it coincides with the 72nd anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi and the National Digital Transformation Day in 2026. Amidst the digital age, modern technology becomes a bridge bringing history closer to the public, especially the younger generation, contributing to fostering national pride, love for the homeland, and an awareness of the historical values cultivated by our ancestors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Cua Nam Ward, emphasized: “Through this program, Cua Nam Ward and VOV hope to spread the message: Understanding history to love the country and Hanoi more; cherishing the past to confidently move towards the future; and applying technology to bring traditional values closer to life.”

Operating from 8 AM to 6 PM on October 10-11, the program facilitates participation from a large number of locals and tourists. Each session serves approximately 20 people, contributing to increased public reach and sustaining the experience for 10 hours each day.

Here, visitors can “turn back time” to the moment President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square in 1945. Participants can immerse themselves in the solemn and moving atmosphere, listen to the genuine applause of tens of thousands of compatriots, and relive the moment of raising their hands to swear allegiance to defend the Fatherland.

The entire historical space has been meticulously recreated using virtual reality (VR) technology. Through this, sacred milestones of the nation are vividly brought to life, providing an authentic and emotionally rich historical experience.

Upon witnessing and hearing President Ho Chi Minh’s voice reading the Declaration of Independence, which gave birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, many people couldn’t help but shed tears of emotion.

Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh (69 years old), a veteran of the resistance war against the American imperialists, shared emotionally after the experience: “As a veteran, returning to that historical moment with such authentic images and sounds, I feel extremely moved and proud that the country is developing more and more.”

Technology brings history back to life.

According to Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture, the application of science, technology, and digital transformation in the cultural field is identified as one of the important driving forces for innovation in the cultural sector.

With the program “Returning to Sacred Moments,” virtual reality (VR) technology was applied to recreate the space of Ba Dinh Square in 1945, allowing participants to directly observe, move, and interact within the historical context.

This approach contributes to innovating the way history is conveyed, bringing events of the past closer to the public, especially the younger generation.

Unlike watching a documentary on a screen, virtual reality (VR) glasses create a sense of presence in space through images that fill the field of vision and change as the user turns their head. When combined with sound and interactivity, this technology allows users to observe space from multiple angles.

Journalist Duong Quang Tung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of VTC News online newspaper, said: “This is an effective way to educate the younger generation, helping them easily access, understand, and be more proud of their national history. The meticulously crafted film includes a series of documents, films, photos, audio recordings, and recounted stories. History experts and the technical team meticulously recreated every detail: from the color of the flag and the brightness of the sky to every sound, such as the shouts and applause of the crowd. 3D VR technology was used to recreate a 360-degree space, allowing viewers to freely observe from multiple angles, even perceiving the proximity of moving vehicles and sounds. The special highlight of the experience is that viewers truly stand among tens of thousands of compatriots, feeling the fervent national spirit, hearing every word of the Declaration of Independence resounding, and raising their hands to their chests to shout the oath to save the nation.”

VR technology allows participants to observe space from multiple perspectives. However, the authenticity of the experience still depends on the research, selection, and recreation of historical data. This is also a requirement for technology-based products in the cultural field: innovating the way information is conveyed without distorting inherent historical values.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of Duplicate Co., Ltd., owner of the Virtual Park model, emphasized: “The most important thing when recreating historical moments is how to convey the entire heroic atmosphere, as well as recreate the feelings of the witnesses so that participants feel like they are living in that moment. Above all, it’s crucial to maintain the authenticity and accuracy of the historical documents, avoiding historical inaccuracies.”

For young people, virtual reality technology is gradually opening up a more visual and accessible way to approach history. “Previously, I mainly learned about history through textbooks and documentary films. But when I directly experienced the atmosphere of Ba Dinh Square in 1945 through VR glasses, I felt like I was actually standing in the middle of that historical moment. I think these kinds of experiences will help make history more accessible and engaging for young people,” shared Ngoc Linh, a third-year student at the Academy of Journalism and <a href="https://comicvibe.com/t-o-p-agency-apologizes-and-vows-better-fan-communication-after-20/” title=”T.O.P agency apologizes and vows better fan communication after 20″>Communication.

Instead of simply acquiring knowledge through books, young people can directly step into historical spaces, observe, and interact with events that have taken place. This experience helps to spark public curiosity and interest in learning history, while also contributing to fostering national pride and ensuring that historical values continue to spread in modern life.
