IDW came to NYCC 2026 day 2 prepared with plenty of previews and con exclusives. The panel featured creators Patrick Horvath, Matthew Rosenberg, and Stan Sakai. Discussions on the panel focused on several previously announced books and ended on two big license acquisitions.
First up, IDW showed their various con exclusives; ashcans for upcoming series You’ll Never Leave This Place Alive and Fatal Fest, and variants for Star Trek: Zero Point by Andrew Currey and a Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees <a href="https://comicvibe.com/10-scary-movies-and-tv-shows-to-set-the-mood-for-halloween/” title=”10 scary movies and TV shows to set the mood for Halloween”>Halloween special cover by Peach Momoko.

Next up were discussions of the company’s current line of Star Trek books. The audience was reminded that issue 1 is currently on sale and previewed interiors for Star Trek #2 were previewed for the audience.
The recently announced Beverly Crusher series Gates McFadden and the Star Trek original graphic novel by Timothy Zahn and Angel Hernandez were also discussed
The conversation then shifted to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. First the panel went the just announced The First Ronin, a spiritual predecessor to The Last Ronin series, by Sakai and Soo Lee. The cover for issue one by Sakai was presented along with Lee’s designs for this era’s Ninja Turtles.
Next displayed was the upcoming run of incoming creative team of Rosenberg and Juann Cabal. Their first issue will be #26 and IDW previewed some of the variant covers that will accompany it.
IDW reminded the audience that Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees Halloween Special came out this week which made for a nice transition into the presentation of their IDW Dark line.
The final volume of surprise hit Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees by Horvath, Summer and Fall, is slated to arrive in 2027.
Covers for the first issues of their previously announced books A Quiet Place: Rising Tides, Event Horizon: Pandemonium, and Any Given Smilewere presented.
Then came the first of their big announcements.
IDW Dark will begin publishing comics based on The Purge, M3GAN, and Happy Death Day. This represents the first time Blumhouse has adapted any of their popular horror franchises into comics. Might one hope for an Insidious book someday?
But surely the biggest announcement IDW made at the panel was that they now have the James Bond license. Even more impressive is that they lured Grant Morrison to write the first title.
A video with the legendary writer discussed their approach to the super spy and announced the title as “Sunbreaker”. Grabbing Morrison, who has largely been quiet from comics in the last few years, to write the iconic character is surely a coup for the company.
