In one of the old interview clips shared by Amitabh, Nana could be heard praising the actor’s versatility and the impact he had on the film industry.
“Amit ji aane ke baad hamara film ka making badal gaya. Aap hero the, comedian the, saree pehente the, kitne logonke ki dukaan bandh ho gayi,” Nana said.
Through the remark, Nana pointed to Amitabh’s ability to take on different shades within the same film, from action and drama to comedy, reducing the need to rely on separate actors for every type of role.
Amitabh also revisited their professional association by sharing archival press footage from the launch of Kohram.
The 1999 film brought Amitabh Bachchan and Nana Patekar together on screen and remains one of the notable collaborations between the two actors.
The old footage added another personal layer to Amitabh’s tribute, taking viewers back to the period when the two shared the screen and promoted the film together.
Nana had preserved Amitabh’s letter praising his 26/11 role
Another clip shared by Amitabh showed Nana talking about a letter he had received from him after his performance in The Attacks of 26/11.
Nana revealed that he had preserved the letter carefully in his cupboard because Amitabh had written to appreciate his portrayal in the film.
For Nana, the letter clearly carried emotional value, with the actor choosing to keep it safe years after receiving it.
The throwback clips offered a glimpse into the respect the two actors shared beyond their work together.
While Nana openly credited Amitabh with changing the grammar of commercial Hindi cinema, his decision to preserve a personal letter from the actor showed how much Amitabh’s appreciation meant to him.
Amitabh’s decision to revisit these memories after Nana’s death turned the old interviews and archival footage into a deeply personal remembrance of his former co-star.
