New York Comic Con is celebrating a big milestone in 2026: it’s the convention’s 20th anniversary, and it comes with a Coney Island theme. How that will manifest—outside of some very cool promotional artwork—is anyone’s guess, but it’s a nice reminder of the what sets the convention apart from the rest of the pack. San Diego Comic-Con may draw big movie and television studios with huge announcements and panels, but it’ll never be the city that Spider-Man calls home.
Given that New York has always been a key location in comics—especially Marvel, thanks to the New York-born-and-raised Stan Lee—it makes sense that NYCC is more focused on, well, comics than its West Coast counterpart. This year, Marvel has a whopping nine panels, not to mention even more signings and screenings. DC clocks in at five panels and a similarly large number of signings.
io9 will be on the ground at NYCC, from October 8-11, bringing you all the latest news, updates, and, of course, cosplay. Watch this space for all of our updates from New York Comic Con 2026.
