Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will receive a free update for modern PCs and consoles. Deep Silver announced they will release them on 22 October for PC and on 29 October for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
On consoles, both games will run at native 4K resolution at 60 FPS or upscaled 4K at 120 FPS. The latter mode will require a compatible TV or monitor. The developers will also improve lighting, shadows and particle effects.
The PlayStation 5 version will support the DualSense’s adaptive triggers, whilst the PS5 Pro will feature PSSR upscaling. Xbox versions will feature haptic triggers and spatial audio, whilst the Xbox Series X will also support TSR and improved anti-aliasing.
Hardware tessellation and dynamic surface displacement will be added to the consoles. The update will also introduce power-saving modes for PlayStation and Xbox, support for Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox handhelds.
PC versions will gain DLSS, spatial audio, community-submitted fixes and other improvements. 4A Games will publish the full list of changes when the update releases.
The update will be free for owners of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux on Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store, the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store. At the same time, the developers announced that total sales of the Metro series have exceeded 50 million copies.
The update is being released a few months ahead of Metro 2039, scheduled for 4 February 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
