PlayStation Bringing Back Adventure Games Not Seen Since PS3 – Report

Rumor has it that Sony is bringing back fan-favorite PlayStation adventure platform games that haven’t received a new entry since PS3. Developed by the now-defunct Japan Studio, Ape Escape series debuted on the PS1 in 1999. Its latest release was the 2010 PS3 game PlayStation Move Ape Escape.

PlayStation-exclusive Ape Escape adventure platform games reportedly won’t be developed by Team Asobi

Known insider NatetheHate, who has a pretty stellar track record, has been hinting at an Ape Escape revival and recently doubled down on their claim. According to the latest report, Ape Escape is one of the “dormant franchises” Sony plans to bring back, suggesting that there are several projects in the pipeline.

As for who will be handling Ape Escape’s return, it reportedly won’t be Team Asobi. The Astro studio is a natural fit for the task, but NatetheHate claims that the next game is in development elsewhere.

Another popular fan suggestion was Bandai Namco Entertainment. NatetheHate claims that they aren’t “100% certain” about this, but they don’t think Bandai Namco is involved either.

For now, PS5 and PS4 players can enjoy Ape Escape classicsavailable for stand-alone purchase
