The 42nd annual Timberfest is underway in downtown Sheridan, with two days of activities planned around the Grant County Courthouse Square Friday and Saturday.
The annual Grant County festival began Friday, October 2nd, with arts and crafts vendors, amusement rides, a petting zoo and pony rides scheduled through 9 p.m.
Friday’s entertainment includes country artist Cam Shelton from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lumberjack Stage, a gospel show featuring First Apostolic Church from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Yellowjacket Stage and music duo Cliff and Susan from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lumberjack Stage.
Bingo is also scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. behind the courthouse, while Timberfest T-shirts, a dirt bike raffle and the festival’s Guess the Weight of the Logs contest will be available at the Timberfest information booth.
Activities will resume early Saturday morning with a Rotary pancake breakfast from 7 to 9:45 a.m., followed by the Timberfest 5K beginning at 8 a.m.
The Timberfest Parade will make its way through downtown Sheridan beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. Parade participants will begin lining up at Sheridan High School at 8:30 a.m.
One of the festival’s signature events, the Lumberjack Competition, is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. behind the courthouse, with both open and college competitions planned.
The J.T. Davis Memorial Car and Motorcycle Show will also begin at 11 a.m. on North Oak Street.
Saturday afternoon will feature a bow shoot beginning at noon, the Baggo Tournament and Ozark Axe House beginning at 1 p.m., and Little Lumberjack Axe Throwing from 1 to 3 p.m. behind the courthouse.
Children will also have an opportunity to participate in the Pinewood Derby. Cars can be decorated from noon to 1:30 p.m., with check-in beginning at 1:30 p.m. and racing scheduled to start at 2 p.m. in front of the courthouse.
Saturday’s schedule also includes performances from Sheridan-area cheer squads, country artist Bree Ogden, the Judy Warner Fiddle Frenzy Band and Jettway Performance, along with additional bingo and children’s entertainment.
Arts and crafts booths will remain open until 8 p.m. Saturday, while amusement rides, the petting zoo and pony rides are scheduled through 7:30 p.m.
Timberfest is held annually during the first weekend of October in downtown Sheridan and is organized by the Grant County Chamber of Commerce.
