The last week of September and the first week of October will witness an interesting mix of Tamil and Telugu content on OTT platforms. From Karthi’s action thriller Sardar 2 to the much-awaited Jailer 2 Rave, audiences have a lot of new choices to pick from across streaming services.
Here are seven OTT releases to add to your watchlist this week.
Streaming platform: Prime Video
Sardar 2 is directed by PS Mithran and stars Karthi, SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan and Rajisha Vijayan. The action thriller is set to stream on Prime Video beginning October 1. The film follows veteran officer Chandra Bose and his son Vijay Prakash as they try to stop an international organisation from triggering a deadly biochemical weapon. They follow a path of secret access keys, past tragedies and scientific clues. It also examines the problem of overuse of antibiotics and the threat of increasing resistance among bacteria.
Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, a romantic comedy in Malayalam, will be available in dubbed version on JioHotstar from October 2. The film stars Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, and is directed by Girish AD. The story is about Ashley who returns to Kerala after studying in Ireland and comes face-to-face with Justin, the boy she had fallen in love with before she left the country. Their families oppose their relationship and their age difference complicates it. Her return for a family wedding stirs up old emotions.
Reality show Sun Singer will be launched on SunNXT on October 4. The program has 20 young singers selected through online and ground-level auditions held across Tamil Nadu.
The program will feature the musical skills of the contestants and their progress in the competition.
Romance comedy Telugu Romanchakam with Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar drops on Netflix on October 1. The story is about an engineering graduate called Anvesh who develops a dating app to prove himself as an entrepreneur. He helps others find relationships on his platform, but his own love life is taking an unfortunate turn.
Anvesh’s startup is floundering, and his personal life is becoming a mess; he gets into a string of unforeseen circumstances.
The romantic comedy web series #Love starring Arjun Das and Aishwarya Lekshmi will hit Netflix on October 2.
The series centers around rival entrepreneurs Tara and Matthew who run competing dating platforms. They built their careers around helping people find love and compatibility, but their own relationship challenges the ideas upon which they built their businesses. The show explores modern relationships, dating apps and the importance of chemistry over compatibility.
Rajinikanth fans and music lovers have yet another reason to watch this week with Jailer 2 Rave. The audio launch concert of Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2 featuring composer Anirudh Ravichander is all set to stream on SunNXT on October 3. The event will be held a few days before the theatrical release of Jailer 2, which is set to release on October 15. Rajinikanth is returning to his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.
