(FOX40.COM) — A comic and game store in West Sacramento was the site of an overnight burglary, police said.
According to the West Sacramento Police Department, a suspect shattered glass to enter the front door of Nine8 Comics and Games on 2105 Town Center Plaza.
The store buys and sells comic books and trading cards and holds weekly events where community members gather to play card and tabletop role-playing games.
“We started Nine8 to build community in the fandoms that we love,” the store explained on its website.
According to Christopher Aliano, a co-owner of the store, the suspect stole roughly $200 worth of trading cards and caused roughly $2,000 in property damage just before 4 a.m. Tuesday. This was the third time the store was broken into in the past three years.
The thieves usually target Pokémon Trading Card Game merchandise, the co-owner said.
“Collectibles are a hot commodity right now,” Aliano explained. “They’re easy to grab, and they’re untraceable, so they’re easy to sell.”
Police are actively investigating the burglary. There is no known suspect at this time.
