The singer responded after a fan account tagged her in a post praising her recent fashion choices, claiming they preferred her current “feminine” looks over “those ‘trans’ looks aimed at a specific community”.
Goulding swiftly rejected the sentiment, replying: “Girl, no thank you. We don’t tolerate any anti LGBTQ+ in the fandom. I know you are better than this.”
The response was widely shared online, with many fans applauding the star for making clear that transphobic comments were not welcome among her supporters.
The original post suggested Goulding’s recent outfits were more appealing because they highlighted her femininity, while drawing an unfavourable comparison with trans people. Rather than ignoring the comment, Goulding responded directly and reaffirmed her support for the LGBTQ+ community.
