Following the recent breakup between Hideo Kojima and PlayStation, rumours have been circulating about the budget behind PHYSINT, with some claiming Kojima was seeking more than $400M for the project. However, it now appears that Xbox signed the game for “significantly less” than those <a href="https://comicvibe.com/dc-premier-action-figures-are-out-now-2/” title=”DC Premier action figures are out now!”>figures.
During the Tokyo Game Show earlier this month, Kojima became a major talking point among developers and press. According to Christopher Dring, various$300M to $600M, though he came away with the impression that $400M was the figure being discussed most frequently
Those numbers caused a stir online, but Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier quickly stepped in to refute the rumour. Schreier said he had heard from Xboxhan the reported $400M figure. Windows Central’s Jez Corden also added that his owning the rumour was far off the mark
It is worth noting that Xbox secured more than just PHYSINT in its recent agreement with Kojima Productions. The company also picked up film and TV rights, and reportedly re‑worked the deal surrounding Kojima’s upcoming horror project, OD. As for PHYSINT itself, there is still no release window, and nobody involved has claimed the game will be exclusive, meaning it could still arrive on PlayStation when all is said and done.
KitGuru says: After the failures of titles like Concord, game budgets have become a hot‑button topic. Companies are spending huge sums on projects that don’t always justify the investment. A tactical espionage game from Kojima, however, is about as close to a safe bet as you can get.
