New Parkinson’s films and TV shows for autumn 2026 and beyond

A host of new films and documentaries coming out this autumn are set to help raise awareness of Parkinson’s, showing a range of people and fictional characters living with the condition.

Recent hit shows have helped shine a spotlight on Parkinson’s, from Michael J Fox and Harrison Ford’s viral ‘F*** Parkinson’s’ moment on hit TV show Shrinking, to fans of the hugely popular book and show Heated Rivalry raising thousands of dollars for Parkinson’s charities.

This autumn brings new releases set to share more stories from the Parkinson’s community, including a Hollywood star-studded movie written by Paul Mayhew-Archer, and life-affirming documentary Team Rudy.

New Parkinson’s films for autumn 2026

Onwards and Sideways

Three-time Oscar nominee, Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning Laura Linney stars alongside BAFTA-winning Rhys Ifans in this emotional and funny feature film from The Vicar Of Dibley writer Paul Mayhew-Archer.

From strangers to friends who find unexpected love, follow the story of Tony and Emma as they navigate a life-changing diagnosis to find joy against the odds.

Onwards and Sideways comes out 6 November in UK cinemas, and will be available on BBC iPlayer later this year.

Team Rudy

This touching and often funny documentary film hopes to change the way people view Parkinson’s care and relationships. Drawing you in with an immersive fly-on-the-wall and heartwarming real-life characters, the universal themes of courage, community and hope make this story of Rudy Morren’s journey through diagnosis and Deep Brain Stimulation surgery a must-watch for all.

Sharon’s Story: Parkinson’s, Advocacy & Family

This educational documentary tells the story of Sharon Riff Ackerman’s experience of Parkinson’s. It also shares the journey of her son George, who became a Parkinson’s advocate in her memory.

The documentary will be released on 28 September (Sharon’s birthday), and is being submitted for consideration at the next World Parkinson Congress.

Come Talk To Me

This feature-length documentary follows Parkinson’s activist Jackie Christensen, husband Paul and their friends with Parkinson’s as they reflect on how the condition has affected their speech and relationships.

Covering the impact living with Parkinson’s can have on the whole family, the film also shows Jackie using AI technology to clone her own voice for the film’s narration and a series of interviews she conducts at an international summit for Parkinson’s support group leaders. Featured at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival.

The third series of the hit show features none other than actor and Parkinson’s advocate Michael J Fox. The Hollywood star’s cameo appearance includes a conversation between Fox, playing Gerry, and Harrison Ford’s Paul, that led to the defiant “F*** Parkinson’s!” trend across social media.

Can You Keep A Secret?

This hilarious new comedy series for BBC One came out earlier this year. Written by Simon Mayhew-Archer, son of acclaimed writer Paul Mayhew-Archer, it stars Dawn French as the wife of a man with Parkinson’s. A second series is in the works.
