As the “Meant to Be” singer recalled at the2026 MTV Video Music Awards—hosted bySnoop Doggin Los Angeles Sept. 27—the “Patient Zero” singer was there for support after she said designers wouldn’t dress her at the 2019 Grammys due to her size.
“I couldn’t find a dress, and she had reached out to me because we’re the same age,” Bebe told E! News’Keltie Knighton the red carpet at the VMAs, “and I thought that was really, really, really kind of her. Nobody really reached out—like some people did, but for her, at such a high level, to make me feel like I belong was really, really nice.”
Of course, the Grammy nominee—nominated at the VMAs for Best Dance—had no problem showing up and showing out on the VMAs red carpet in an all-black Dreaming Eli dress. (Click here to see what all the stars wore at this year’s event.)

And while Bebe is inspired by Taylor—who is being honored with the first-ever Artist Director Honors at the VMAs—she isn’t the only music icon who has had a profound impact on her.
Indeed, the “In the Name of Love” singer reflected on the impact that the lateDolly Partonhad on her while they worked together on their 2023 song “Seasons.”
“She is the baddest b—h,” she continued. “Her corset was tighter than mine. Her heels were insane, and then I looked at my outfit, and I was like, ‘I feel like I’m not doing enough.’ She had her hair so high.”
Plus, as Bebe added, “She was like the most energetic, kind, chill. I loved it because sometimes when you meet your idols, they kind of let you down. I’ve been in situations like that, but with her, she was amazing.”
