The OLED version of the Xbox Ally X20 is launching next month at an official price tag of $1,299.
ASUS Opens Pre-Orders for ROG Xbox Ally X20 at $1,299 While the Launch is Scheduled on October 15
The latest ASUS handheld called ROG Xbox Ally X20 was unveiled at Computex this year, succeeding the ROG Xbox Ally 2025 edition. ASUS calls it a true collector’s item due to its distinguished design that features a translucent black plastic chassis and revised controls. The company already announced the opening of pre-orders for the console last month, but the product pages were prepared later.
Recently, ASUS and Best Buy officially listed the gaming handheld in their stores, revealing its actual price and the official release date, which was also discussed previously in an ASUS press release. Both stores have launched the ROG Xbox Ally X20 at $1,299, which is nearly $300 higher than its predecessor, the ROG Xbox Ally X, which debuted last year at $999.
The core specifications remain the same, featuring the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme with 8 cores and 16 threads, 24 GB LPDDR5X memory, and 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD storage. A lot of the specifications of the X20 are identical to the previous-gen Ally X handheld, but now the ROG Xbox Ally X20 boasts a larger 7.4-inch display that is equipped with an OLED panel for deeper blacks and superior visual fidelity.
The display supports HDR and can hit up to 1,400 nits as peak brightness while hitting 600 nits in SDR mode. It also supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to eliminate screen tearing and has a quick response with just 0.2 ms of response time. The handheld retains the 80 Wh battery from the Ally X, but now it’s slightly heavier at 756 grams.
The ROG Xbox Ally X20 is currently open for pre-orders on both ASUS and Best Buy stores, but won’t start shipping until October 15, 2026.
