Meta introduced a virtual reality (VR) headset weighing only 100 grams at a price of 1,299.99 US dollars. The technology company also prepared Muse Charm, a pocket-sized AI device that allows users to talk to a digital assistant without having to open a phone or application
According to Anadolu Agency, quoted Friday, September 25, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced the two devices at the Connect developer conference, Wednesday, September 23. Meta VR Glasses are scheduled to be available in spring 2027, while Muse Charm is targeted to start shipping in December 2026.
Meta VR Glasses is designed as a smaller and lighter alternative compared to the Quest device. It is five times lighter than the Quest 3.
To reduce the load on the user’s head, Meta separates the processor and battery from the glasses. Both components are placed in an additional device that can be clipped to a belt, pocket, or bag.
The glasses are equipped with a 5K resolution screen with a micro-OLED panel, a small-sized screen technology that is capable of producing high-resolution images.
Eye and hand motion tracking sensors also allow users to operate the device without having to always use a handheld controller.
Users can create multiple virtual screens at once, turn the desktop into a keyboard and touch pad, and connect the glasses to other devices to expand the screen display.
Meta is also preparing support for watching movies, playing games, and making video calls using a digital representation of the user that looks very realistic.
“We’ve created a new type of VR device that gives the sensation of being in the virtual world, with a high-resolution screen and the ability to see the surrounding environment, for the first time in the form of a pair of glasses,” said Zuckerberg.
Meta VR Glasses is the company’s first new VR device since the Quest 3S was introduced in 2024.
Meanwhile, Muse Charm is designed to provide quick access to Muse, Meta’s personal AI agent that is capable of helping users carry out various tasks.
Zuckerberg said users can talk directly to the device without having to unlock the phone or run an app.
“We have put a lot of technology into this small device,” he said.
According to Zuckerberg, the Muse Charm will be the fastest way to communicate with Muse when users are not wearing AI glasses. This device also allows users to show the condition of the surrounding environment to the AI agent.
Meta has not announced the price of the Muse Charm. The company is still finalizing the device’s components and is targeting delivery in December, coinciding with the end-of-year holiday season.
Muse itself is designed to perform a variety of tasks, ranging from sending emails, booking trips, shopping, to helping complete long-term projects.
The AI agent can be accessed through its own application, WhatsApp, website, and Mac computer.
Meta also plans to integrate Muse into its own AI glasses. With this technology, Muse will be able to respond to voice commands and carry out tasks based on objects or information that users see.
