Kit Harington might not know “D-Cap” personally, but he sure is a huge fan.
The Game of Thrones actor made Happy Sad Confused podcast host Josh Horowitz do a double-take when he referred to Leonardo DiCaprio using the unique nickname during an interview on Monday.
“I’ve always admired D-Cap,” Harington told Horowitz when asked about his biggest inspirations growing up. “I always loved what he did. From a kind of big movie star perspective, watching him in Romeo + Julietwas a big formative thing.”
Horowitz responded with, “I’ve never heard him referred to as D-Cap.”
“D-Cap. You’ve never heard D-Cap?” Harington protested of the moniker.
“No,” Horowitz said, noting that it sounds like a rapper’s name. “At first, I was like, ‘I don’t know what the f— he’s talking about.’ And then I got it.”
Harington questioned why Horowitz doesn’t call DiCaprio “D-Cap,” to which the host stated, “He’s just Leo. Just Leo.”
“That makes you sound like I know him,” Harington laughed in response.
The actor admitted he’s never properly met DiCaprio, but he has crossed paths with him briefly in the past.
“He walked past me once,” Harington recalled. “And I sort of half-smiled. And he half-smiled at me. And I always regret… I didn’t want to bother him.”
Horowitz said the next time he’s near DiCaprio he should just yell, “Yo, D-Cap! What up? It’s Kit-Har over here!”
Harington got a kick out of that suggestion.
In the chat, Harington also listed his favorite DiCaprio films: Romeo + Juliet(1996), What’s Eating Gilbert Grape(1993), and The Basketball Diaries(1995).
Harington has made his own impression on the industry after starring as the beloved Jon Snow on eight seasons of HBO’s fantasy series Game of Thrones from 2011 to 2019. He now stars on the network’s drama series Industry as Sir Henry Muck.
As for whether or not he’d ever return to George R. R. Martin‘s world of A Song of Ice and Fire, Harington said that, after backing out of a Jon Snow spinoff series in 2024, he can see a future in which he reprises his role.

“We developed it for two years or so, and I still think there’s a world in which something could work,” Harington told Horowitz. “I wouldn’t have gone into it in the first place if I didn’t. But I was very insistent at the start — and they were as well, HBO and George — that if we don’t find the right thing, we won’t do it, it’s much, much better that we don’t. And after a while of thinking about it, I think it was me that said, ‘Look, I think this isn’t quite the right time.'”
He added, “And I think I was right because I’ve gone and done all these other things and now I’m more comfortable with that character and that world again, in where it sits in my life.”
Harington is currently looking forward to being a part of the second season of HBO’s Harry Potteradaptation as Hogwarts professor Gilderoy Lockhart. “I’m a bit of a nerd for it,” Harington told Horowitz of his love of the book series. The first season premieres this Christmas.
“I think [the show] can really delve into it further than the films did,” he added. “I’m fully supportive of it and then got a call to be in it, and it was just a very simple, ‘Yes, please.'”
