Dragon’s Dogma 2 was released in 2024, and just like the first Dragon’s Dogma, Capcom is bringing out a Dark Arisen version with improvements to the original game.
However, what many people may not have expected is that Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will use frame generation technology on Nintendo Switch 2.
This makes it the first Capcom game to use the technology on the console, allowing players to “play with smooth visuals equivalent to 60 FPS.”
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Uses Frame Generation to Reach a 60 FPS-Like Experience on Switch 2
Naoto Oyama spoke about this in detail in Famitsu . “First, in the Switch 2 version of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, the base frame rate is targeted at 30 FPS in both handheld and TV modes,” the Japanese producer said. “If you turn on frame generation in this state, a function that interpolates frames will be activated, allowing you to play with smooth visuals equivalent to 60 FPS.”
He added, “However, since this function interpolates between frames, there are times when interpolation is difficult in certain situations, and we have confirmed cases where a slight ghosting effect remains. Nevertheless, we judged that the overall gameplay experience would not be significantly impaired, so we made it possible for those who prioritize frame rate to turn it on.”
That means that although frame generation is enabled by default in the Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen demo, in the full game it can be turned on or off, whichever you prefer.
Oyama also said that 60 FPS on PC and Switch 2 are similar. “It’s pretty close. When you output 60 FPS natively, each frame is drawn individually and displayed as is. Frame generation is a function that calculates and interpolates “what would happen if there was a frame here” between frames. The idea is that the whole thing, including this interpolation, is at 60 FPS,” the producer made clear.
Frame generation “is a technology that has been used quite commonly in PC games, but this is the first time that Capcom” has used frame generation on Nintendo Switch 2, and with a game like Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is scheduled to release on October 9, <a href="https://comicvibe.com/10-best-prime-video-tv-shows-of-2026-so-far/” title=”10 Best Prime Video TV Shows Of 2026 (So Far)”>2026.
